At least from 1540 onwards, and in the island of Goa before that year, all the Hindu idols had been annihilated or had disappeared, all the temples had been destroyed and their sites and building material was in most cases utilized to erect new Christian Churches and chapels. Various viceregal and Church council decrees banished the Hindu priests from the Portuguese territories; the public practices of Hindu rites including marriage rites, were banned; the state took upon itself the task of bringing up Hindu orphan children; the Hindus were denied certain employments, while the Christians were preferred; it was ensured that the Hindus would not harass those who became Christians, and on the contrary, the Hindus were obliged to assemble periodically in Churches to listen to preaching or to the refutation of their religion.”

“A particularly grave abuse was practiced in Goa in the form of ‘mass baptism’ and what went before it. The practice was begun by the Jesuits and was alter initiated by the Franciscans also. The Jesuits staged an annual mass baptism on the Feast of the Conversion of St. Paul (January 25), and in order to secure as many neophytes as possible, a few days before the ceremony the Jesuits would go through the streets of the Hindu quarter in pairs, accompanied by their Negro slaves, whom they would urge to seize the Hindus. When the blacks caught up a fugitive, they would smear his lips with a piece of beef, making him an ‘untouchable’ among his people. Conversion to Christianity was then his only option.”

The Goan inquisition is regarded by all contemporary portrayals as the most violent inquisition ever executed by the Portuguese Catholic Church. It lasted from 1560 to 1812. The inquisition was set as a tribunal, headed by a judge, sent to Goa from Portugal and was assisted by two judicial henchmen. The judge was answerable to no one except to Lisbon and handed down punishments as he saw fit. The Inquisition Laws filled 230 pages and the palace where the Inquisition was conducted was known as the Big House and the Inquisition proceedings were always conducted behind closed shutters and closed doors. The screams of agony of the culprits (men, women, and children) could be heard in the streets, in the stillness of the night, as they were brutally interrogated, flogged, and slowly dismembered in front of their relatives. Eyelids were sliced off and extremities were amputated carefully, a person could remain conscious even though the only thing that remained was his torso and a head.

Diago de Boarda, a priest and his advisor Vicar General, Miguel Vazz had made a 41 point plan for torturing Hindus. Under this plan Viceroy Antano de Noronha issued in 1566, an order applicable to the entire area under Portuguese rule :
“I hereby order that in any area owned by my master, the king, nobody should construct a Hindu temple and such temples already constructed should not be repaired without my permission. If this order is transgressed, such temples shall be, destroyed and the goods in them shall be used to meet expenses of holy deeds, as punishment of such transgression.”

In 1567 the campaign of destroying temples in Bardez met with success. At the end of it 300 Hindu temples were destroyed. Enacting laws, prohibition was laid from December 4, 1567 on rituals of Hindu marriages, sacred thread wearing and cremation. All the persons above 15 years of age were compelled to listen to Christian preaching, failing which they were punished.

A religious fatva was issued on the basis of the findings of Goa Inquiry Commission. It stated,”…Hereby we declare the decision that the conventions mentioned in the preamble of the fatva as stated below are permanently declared as useless, and therefore prohibited”.

Prohibitions Regarding Marriages

-The instruments for Hindu songs shall not be played.
-While giving dowry the relatives of the bride and groom must not be invited.
-At the time of marriage, betel leaf packages (pan) must not be distributed either publicly or in private to the persons present.

-Flowers, or fried puris, betel nuts and leaves must not be sent to the heads of the houses of the bride or groom.

-Gotraj ceremony of family God must not be performed.
-On the day prior to a wedding, rice must not be husked, spices must not be pounded, grains must not be ground and other recipes for marriage feast must not be cooked.

-Pandals and festoons must not be used.
-Pithi should not be applied.
-The bride must not be accorded ceremonial welcome. The bride and groom must not -be made to sit under pandal to convey blessings and best wishes to them.

Prohibitions Regarding Fasts, Post-death Rituals

-The poor must not be fed or ceremonial meals must not be served for the peace of the souls of the dead.
-There should be no fasting on ekadashi day.
-Fasting can be done according to the Christian principles.
-No rituals should be performed on the twelfth day after death, on moonless and full moon dates.
-No fasting should be done during lunar eclipse.

Conventions

-Hindu men should not wear dhoti either in public or in their houses. Women should not wear cholis .
-They should not plant Tulsi in their houses, compounds, gardens or any other place.

-Following the law of 1567, orphans were kidnapped for converting them to Christianity.

On September 22, 1570 an order was issued that :
-The Hindus embracing Christianity will be exempted from land taxes for a period of 15 years.
-Nobody shall bear Hindu names or surnames.

In 1583 Hindu temples at Esolna and Kankolim were destroyed through army action.
“The fathers of the Church forbade the Hindus under terrible penalties the use of their own sacred books, and prevented them from all exercise of their religion. They destroyed their temples, and so harassed and interfered with the people that they abandoned the city in large numbers, refusing to remain any longer in a place where they had no liberty, and were liable to imprisonment, torture and death if they worshipped after their own fashion the gods of their fathers.” wrote Sasetti, who was in India from 1578 to 1588.
An order was issued in June 1684 eliminating Konkani language and making it compulsory to speak Portuguese language. The law provided for dealing toughly with anyone using the local language. Following that law all the symbols of non-Christian sects were destroyed and the books written in local languages were burnt.

The Archbishop living on the banks of the Ethora had said during one of his lecture series, “The post of Inquiry Commission in Goa is regarded as holy.” The women who opposed the assistants of the commission were put behind the bars and were used by them to satisfy their animal instincts. Then they were burnt alive as opponents of the established tenets of the Catholic church.
The victims of such inhuman laws of the Inquiry Commission included a French traveller named Delone. He was an eye witness to the atrocities, cruelty and reign of terror unleashed by priests. He published a book in 1687 describing the lot of helpless victims. While he was in jail he had heard the cries of tortured people beaten with instruments having sharp teeth. All these details are noted in Delone’s book.

So harsh and notorious was the inquisition in Goa, that word of its brutality and horrors reached Lisbon but nothing was done to stop this notoriety and escalating barbarity and it continued for two hundred more years. No body knows the exact number of Goans subjected to these diabolical tortures, but perhaps it runs into hundreds of thousands, may be even more. The abominations of inquisitions continued until a brief respite was given in 1774 but four years later, the inquisition was introduced again and it continued un-interruptedly until 1812. At that point in time, in the year of 1812, the British put pressure on the Portuguese to put an end to the terror of Inquisition and the presence of British troops in Goa enforced the British desire. Also the Portuguese power at this time was declining and they could not fight the British. The palace of the Grand Inquisitor, the Big House, was demolished and no trace of it remains today, which might remind someone of inquisitions and the horrors inside this Big House that their great saint Francis Xavier had commenced.

Dr. Trasta Breganka Kunha, a Catholic citizen of Goa writes, “Inspite of all the mutilations and concealment of history, it remains an undoubted fact that religious conversion of Goans is due to methods of force adopted by the Portuguese to establish their rule. As a result of this violence the character of our people was destroyed. The propagation of Christian sect in Goa came about not by religious preaching but through the methods of violence and pressure. If any evidence is needed for this fact, we can obtain it through law books, orders and reports of the local rulers of that time and also from the most dependable documents of the Christian sect

The Dravidian movement saw its genesis in 1912. Hundred years later, it is finding it difficult to remain relevant both socially as well as politically. S Aravindan Neelakandan analyses the reasons that have made the ideology archaic

Our enemies, the Brahmins, should tremble in fear.” When DMK supremo M Karunanidhi made this public statement early this year as part of the centenary of celebrations of the Dravidian movement, Bishop Robert Caldwell of the Society for the Propagation of Gospel (SPG) would have had rolled over in ecstasy in his grave. After all, it was Bishop Caldwell who gave the fundamentals of the racial framework for the interpretation of south Indian history.

Like the term ‘Arya’, the term ‘Dravida’ also has a long history. Traditional Indian psyche with its diverse streams, including the Vedic, Buddhist and Jain, never interpreted these terms in racial terms. While the term ‘Arya’ relates to a person of culture, ‘Dravida’ refers to a specific geographical region well within the cultural matrix of India. However, after Max Muller read racial meaning in the term ‘Arya’ and Europeanised it as ‘Aryan’, colonial-missionary binary constructs of Aryan-aboriginal started fast percolating into the psyche of educated classes of Indians — both Brahmins and non-Brahmins. Bishop Caldwell, whom DMK supremo praised limitless, added a conspiracy theory to this racial framework. No, Aryans did not conquer the Dravidians, he said, but they sent their stooges the cunning Brahmins who through their religion enslaved the Dravidian kings. According to Caldwell, Tamil kings were gullible enough to accept the title ‘Shudra’ when Brahmins told them that it was a title of honour. ‘Cunning Aryans’ also invented what is now known as Hinduism as a means to enslave Dravidians!

Today, the Aryan-Dravidian binary stands rejected by archaeology and dismissed repeatedly by genetic studies. However, the apologists of the Dravidian movement claim that it was nevertheless a tool for social emancipation and had to be understood in that context. How much truth is contained in such a claim?

The racial theory enunciated by Caldwell had three components: The Aryans, the Dravidians and the Dalits. The Dalits were of little consequence in the narrative constructed by Caldwell. His main aim was projecting the Aryan-Dravidian divide. And this became an integral part of Dravidian political ideology. Herein lies the main spiritual weakness of the Dravidian movement: It could never speak whole-heartedly for the Dalit rights. Throughout the history of the Dravidian movement one sees this deficiency. Rettaimalai Srinivasan, one of the pioneers of the Dalit movement in Tamil Nadu, which was then part of the Madras presidency, though then he had no reason to question the Aryan-Dravidian theory, realised that even if one accepts the binary, the so-called Brahminical and non-Brahminical religious traditions were organically linked. In fact, he along with Baba Saheb Ambedkar at the Round Table Conference in London had petitioned the British to label the depressed classes as “non-conformist Hindus or reformist Hindus or protestant Hindus”.

Another great Dalit leader of Tamil Nadu was MC Rajah. He parted ways with the Justice Party, which was the political expression of non-Brahmin politics. He, too, was appreciative of the reform agenda then taken up by the Hindu Mahasabha. Ayyan Kali, the first Dalit freedom fighter of Kerala, who successfully won the educational rights of Dalits in Kerala through a bitter battle, had no use for the Aryan-Dravidian racial construct. Incidentally, he had his initial inspirations from monks who had their roots in Arya Samaj. Nor did Sri Narayana Guru ever use the racial framework of Caldwell for his social emancipation fight. Rather, he used Advaitic Vedanta for the liberation of the oppressed.

The decisive blow against the Dravidian ideology as a tool for social emancipation was dealt by none other than Ambedkar. Bodhisattva of our times, Ambedkar rejected the racial interpretation of Indian social reality decisively. Discarding the Western theory that the so-called untouchables and Brahmins belonged to different races, Ambedkar stated that if anthropometry was to be considered a science then based on exhaustive data, Brahmin and the Dalit did not belong to separate races but one. “The Brahmin and the untouchable belong to the same race,” he said. This was a basic fundamental truth which the south Indian non-Brahmin movement, which labelled itself ‘rationalist’, never grasped.

EV Ramasami (EVR), the primal patriarch of Dravidian racism, who was also donning the cap of “the sun of rationalism” never understood the fallacy of his demand for Dravidstan. In July 1947, he attacked Ambedkar of betrayal and as having gone to side of “dry North Indian philosophy” and standing for a “United India”.

The Dravidian race theory also contained in it a denial of Dalits as part of the same race. This contempt for Dalits as part of the Dravidian movement has often manifested itself in abusive and violent forms. EVR himself often spoke in venomous contempt against the Dalits. Dalit leaders of his time protested vehemently against his disparaging remarks attributing the rise in the price of cloth to Dalit women wearing jacket. It was only after decades, that too during an election period, that EVR came up with a lame explanation for his alleged statement which did not cut much ice across the Dalit leaders.

The unkindest cut of all came in the form of a Dalit massacre in 1968. In a village in Tamil Nadu (the notorious Keezhvenmani massacre) non-Brahmin upper caste landlords torched alive landless Dalit workers, who were non-violently agitating for an increase in the wages. EVR came up with a condemnation of the incident. He started with the condemnation of the concept of Satyagraha, which according to him had made common people rebels. Then he ended up condemning those who ‘instigated’ the Dalits to fight for higher wages. There was not a single word of condemnation against the non-Brahmin landlords.

Ambedkar was bitter about Hindu society for its suicidal maintenance of the oppressive caste system. But he never let that bitterness become hatred. He never compromised on the safety and integrity of the nation. He always saw him as part of the great process of renaissance and social emancipation movement that started with the wisdom of the Upanishads and manifested in the compassion of Buddha. He and his movement were staunchly rooted in the principles of democracy and Ambedkar traced the spiritual basis of Indian democracy to the ‘Maha Vakyas’ of the Upanishads. One finds such deeper and holistic understanding of Indian social history conspicuous by its absence in the Dravidian movement.

On the contrary, the Dravidian movement rooted itself in the false racial doctrine of Aryan-Dravidian theory. It was based on a racial hatred for Brahmins as the other. Though in later days, democratic compulsions forced CN Annadurai to overcome this hatred, he too was not above lamenting that the social reality of Tamil society prevented him from implementing Hitler’s methods in eliminating the Brahmins. However, the people of Tamil Nadu were cautious in the sense that they repeatedly rejected the hardcore pseudo-rationalist, racist DMK and preferred the ADMK which during the charismatic MG Ramachandran’s time was more inclusive of the Dalits, more sensitive to Hindu religious sentiments and had a better democratic and humanitarian face.

Today, the 100-year-old Dravidian movement is struggling to remain relevant. It has become socially, culturally, historically and spiritually a failed movement. Like all failed movements it lives in desperation. And like all desperate entities it seeks violence and hatred to justify its existence. The term ‘social justice’ has become synonymous in the Dravidian movement for a racial hatred for Brahmins and a passionate hatred against Indic spiritual traditions. Thankfully, people have realised its ideological bankruptcy.

Reference the report – ” Indian missionaries swamping the West ” – (TNIE – 30 Jan)

The reason for this is not far to see !!

As far back as 1964, Bates M. Searle and PAUL K Wilhelm in their – “CHRISTIANITY IN EUROPE : THE PROSPECTS OF CHRISTIANITY THROUGHOUT THE WORLD” wrote about the decline of Christianity in Europe. As examples, they highlighted the state of Christianity in the following countries:

(A) – “Great Britain. Unless new factors do enter the situation, the institutional decline of the Churches in those older neighborhoods of Britain which are themselves declining will continue.” – – – . “Statistics of Church attendances show that not more than 10% of the population is likely to be in Church on any given Sunday.”

(B) – “Scandinavian Countries. The situation in the Scandinavian countries is not unlike that in Britain, though alienation from the Church seems to have gone further – – – a strange deep regard for the Christian tradition; and at the same time empty Churches.”

(C) – “Switzerland. Switzerland presents many of the same features of Scandinavia. Even in the city of John Calvin, not more than 5% of the Protestant population will be found in Church on a Sunday morning.”

(D) – “Netherlands. The Netherlands is a land of paradoxes. A great proportion of the population than in any other European country declares itself in the census returns to belong to no religious community at all.”

(E) – “Germany. No strong prophetic voices are to be heard from the Churches.”

Continuing, the authors wrote about Europe : “ There are no signs of a great revival of spiritual life, nowhere have the Church broken through a broad front into the newly paganised world. There is much perplexity as to how the Gospel should be preached, indeed as to whether the Church had a message at all for the man of today.”

As regards the ‘Land of Liberty’, the well known commentator, Fareed Zakaria, in his – ” THE FUTURE OF FREEDOM”, wrote, about the desperate attempts by the ‘Bible Belt’ evangelists to keep the ‘Flock together’ ; ” In the process of expanding, Falwell and others like him discovered that the easiest way to attract a mass audience was to mimic mainstream culture and values, giving people what they want, which is less religiously demanding and more warm and service oriented Christianity. – – – . Evangelical Churches are now designed to blend in perfectly with ‘modern consumerist America”. AGAIN. “Faith as hedonism was a sublimal message of the Pentacostal evangelists Jim and Tammy Faye Baker.- – – .To practice what they preached the Baker’s built a 2300 acre THEME PARK,- HERITAGE U.S.A.- proudly called a ‘Christian Disneyland.’ Replete with shopping malls etc “. In short- religion reduced to a commercial venture!!

Staying with the ‘Land of Liberty’, Lisa Miller in a ‘wonderful’ treatise published in the daily – ‘The Daily Beast’ – on 14 Aug 2009, and entitled : ” We Are All Hindus Now “ , wrote:

” The Rig Veda, the most ancient Hindu scripture, says this: “Truth is One, but the sages speak of it by many names.” A Hindu believes there are many paths to God. Jesus is one way, the Qur’an is another, yoga practice is a third. None is better than any other; all are equal. The most traditional, conservative Christians have not been taught to think like this. They learn in Sunday school that their religion is true, and others are false. Jesus said, “I am the way, the truth,
and the life. No one comes to the father except through me.”

Again. ” Americans are no longer buying it. According to a 2008 Pew Forum survey, 65 percent of us believe that “many religions can lead to eternal life”—including 37 percent of white evangelicals, the group most likely to believe that salvation is theirs alone. Also, the number of people who seek spiritual truth outside church is growing. Thirty percent of Americans call themselves “spiritual, not religious,” according to a 2009 NEWSWEEK Poll, up from 24 percent in 2005″.

In his ” PSYCHOLOGY OF PROPHETISM AND A SECULAR LOOK AT THE BIBLE.” (1993), Dr. Koenraad Elst, the noted Begian historian wrote :

“ Anyone who cares to look, can see that Christianity is in steep decline. This is especially the case in Europe, where Church attendance levels in many countries have fallen below 10% or even 5%. In most Christian countries (ie, with the exception of some frontline areas of the mission), the trend is the same, even if less dramatic. Even more ominous for the survival of Christianity, is the decline in priestly vocations. Many parishes that used to have two or three priests now HAVE NONE, so that Sunday services have to be conducted by a visiting priest, who has an even fuller agenda as his colleagues keep dying, retiring, or abandoning priesthood without being replaced. The average age of Catholic priests in the world is 55. In the Netherlands it is even 62, and increasing– — . The fact is modern people just are’nt very interested anymore in practicing Christianity.”

AGAIN. “- — – but the fundamental reason for the decline is intrinsic to the Christian faith.- – -. The central defining element in Christianity that cannot possibly be saved, is the composite doctrine of prophetic monotheism. The notion that there is a SINGLE GOD, CREATOR of the Universe, who is interfering with His Creation, by sending messages to privileged spokespersons called ‘prophets’, flies in the face of rationality. People will accept that reason isn’t everything, but not that your central belief system is so militantly opposed to reason.”

Dr. Elst gives the example of Dr. Herman H. Somers. a Jesuit priest. He wrote:

” He studied in Leuven and Rome, and is an M.A. in Philosophy, Ph.D. in Classical Philology (i.e. Latin and Greek), Ph.D. in Theology, and Ph.D. in Psychology. For forty years he was in the Jesuit order. He had worked as a schoolteacher, journalist for the Jesuit-led paper De Linie, lecturer in Classical Philology and in Psychology, practicing psychopathologist in a mental asylum, before he went on to devote 25 years to scientific research. He has been active in a variety of research projects, from noise ecology and experimental psychology to pioneering work in computer-aided mathematical text analysis of the Bible.

As he studied the Bible more closely, he developed doubts about its divine character. In the face of unexpected findings inconvenient to the faith, he refused to renounce scientific standards, and drew his conclusions. In what he describes as a painful process, he grew away from the Christian faith, and left the Jesuit order. Pro-Jesuit sources claim that it is only because of his unwillingness to comply with his vow of poverty (concretely: renouncing the family property in favor of the order after his mother died) that he has left the order.

In 1986, he published the book: Jezus de Messias: was het Christendom een Vergissing? (“Jesus the Messiah: was Christianity a Mistake?”).1 Written in Dutch, it is an abridged version of a more technical study in French, which he sent to a number of experts and interested parties, among them the Vatican. It is a ground-breaking exploration of the psychopathological syndromes accurately described in the New Testament, especially of Jesus’ mental condition.

In June 1990, he published a more voluminous sequel, this time also dealing with the Old Testament prophets. It is called: Toen God sliep, schreef de mens de Bijbel. De Bilbet belicht door een psycholoog (Dutch: “When God slept, man wrote the Bible. The Bible explained by a psychologist”). We hope that it will soon be translated into all major languages, and meanwhile we will offer a summary of the book’s most striking points.

Since then, Dr. Somers has also written a history of the Jesuit order, a psychological study of Mohammed, and a study of the Jehovah’s Witnesses “.

And, the Indian ‘Harvesting’ scene is best captured by Sir Mark Tully, the former BBC Station Chief in New Delhi, in his most readable – ” No Full Stops in India “. He wrote : ” The bulk of their converts came from the untouchable community and the tribes. One Roman Catholic friend of mine still refers to Harijan converts as ‘POWDER MILK CHRISTIANS’, and there is no doubt that these people- the poorest of the poor were attracted by the MISSIONARIES’ PROMISES TO FEED THEIR BODIES, RATHER THAN THE PROSPECT OF SPIRITUAL NOURISHMENT.”

It is against the foregoing canvas, should one view the message of the Pope John Paul II’s statement during the Papal High Mass on November 8′ 1999 in New Delhi, which also happened to be Deepavali – “The first millennium saw the cross planted in the soil of Europe, and the second in America and Africa. May the Third Christian Millennium witness a great harvest of faith on this vast and vital continent”.

This, on a State visit, at the invitation of the then ‘COMMUNAL’ NDA Govt. !!

For hundreds of years, Christian missionaries have been selling fake paradise in India. Missionaries promised “the eyes of the blind will be opened, the ears of the deaf unstopped, and the wilderness will burst out in fruitful beauty.” They falsely paraded the prophecy of the wolf with the lamb and the kid with the leopard and promised Biblical paradise. Missionary promises were couched in scholastic terms but their goal was political, social and economic exploitation and to liberate Hindus from their spiritual tradition and to enslave them with the rigid dogma. Christian colonialists did their utmost to conceal from the world the true nature of their deceptive techniques of these missionary tormentors. Colonial masters succeeded in muffling victims of conversion. The full dramatic story of deceptive missionary activities against Hindus has yet to be told, and the need for telling it is now more compelling than ever, not only to expose their games, but also to warn gullible victims.
Now Christian evangelists are devising various modern deceptive plans to convert unsuspecting and ignorant Hindus. They are on a crusade march to convert Hindus by unholy, dishonest means of deception, exploitation and fraud. The exploitation of peace loving, tolerant, innocent Hindus by cunning strategies and deceptive psychological programming is aimed at the destruction of the ancient spiritual culture and Hindu tradition. “Until Hindu culture is conquered, Hinduism remains. Hinduism is wedded to culture in indissoluble bonds till death does them apart. Hindu culture must be Christianized, if we were to win Hindus. Hindus must be won, if we were to win India.” says A Guide to Missionary Tactics. For several years missionaries have launched a cultural war against Hindus for domination, control and conversion. While several Christian cults adopted a decidedly heretical Christian doctrine, modern day evangelists continue to use dishonest and deceptive psychological techniques to execute their cabal.
For a long time, Hinduism has generally dictated the ethical standards by which Hindus live. However, a growing number of evangelists in India have rejected the ethical standards as impractical and moral principles as outdated. For evangelist crusaders-there is no distinction between right and wrong, good and bad and there is no ethical standards. Evangelists decide for themselves what is right and what is wrong. Their ideas and deceptive standards demonstrate that they have an inherent potential for reflecting immoral, unethical acts.

Wow. That’s really impressive. I guess we had better get down on our knees right now, and start confessing everything, holding nothing back, as well as support the Hindu sounding organization! Right? Wrong!
At first, you may find it as a spiritual Hindu organization motivated to do good. Now read on and weigh the contents in accurate scale and you will know that it is an “ecumenical communion of the disciples of Lord Jesus Christ” Swami Sachidananda Bharathi in saffron dress is an evangelist and the Dharma Bharathi Ashram is an institution for indoctrination of gullible Hindus. This dishonest fake name is an attempt to develop a rapport with Hindus without divulging their own evil intention. The name of the organization looks wonderful on the outside, but on the inside is very manipulating. It is a desperate attempt to trick Hindus into joining the Christian Ashram. They are after Hindu mind and money. It is a sophisticated mind control and recruitment technique that has been refined over time. Evangelists need to operate using deception. Why? Because: if Hindus knew their true practices and beliefs beforehand, then they would not join. Evangelists need to hide the truth from Hindus until they think they are ready to accept the fake paradise.
It is a slick well-orchestrated public relations front which hides what the group is really like. They want to help the poor, support peace and revitalize environment. It is all fake selling points.
The ideas of deception are not an original idea of the Christian evangelist Swami Sachidananda. A Christian missionary wrote about the methodology of Christianizing Hindus in India some 80 years ago using a similar deception. The missionary wrote “If we are insistent in converting Hindus, let it be remembered that until we adopt Hindu cultural practices, it is difficult to lure Hindus for Jesus”. Christian evangelist Swami Sachidananda Bharathi and his organization are adding a new deceptive dimension based on the old missionary technique.
The deceptive tactics of the evangelist Swami Sachidananda Bharathi (formerly N.V. John) and other slick evangelists include misquoting Hindu verses, building Churches that look similar to temples, Ashrams, doing Christian ceremonies like Hindu festivals, and adopting Hindu names for conversion centers. They construct preaching centers which are outwardly as closely as akin to Hindu Ashrams. Christian evangelists continue the outward form of Hinduism while adding a new dimension based on the Bible.
The real intent is to implement the policy of psycho programming and mind manipulation to demand the voluntary participation of Hindus for conversion. The plan is to break the spirit or sap the vitality of Hindus, who continue to enjoy a spiritual life. It is a trick for exploitation and bondage as well as to crush Hindus. The evangelist strategy of enslavement and dehumanization is now turned into dishonest and deceptive strategy. It is an attempt to convince Hindus that they are not complete until they accept Jesus as the only God. Over the past 60 years, thousands of Hindus have been deceptively converted specifically by Christian evangelists with fake promises and deceptive tactics that masquerade Christian belief in the guise of Hindu spiritual practices. The Christian gospel is preached by “Christian Swamis” wearing saffron clothes and Rudraksha (Beads). These fake Christian swamis promote their rigid Christian faith by using a new Hindu name.
These dishonest Hindu sounding Christian organizations and fake Christian swamis have influenced secularists, intellectuals, social liberals and the media by psycho linguistic programming and deceptive propaganda. This method of proselytizing increases the number of contact people, who serve as conduits to the Hindus in social settings. Contrary to popular perception, it is not only emotionally unstable to Hindus who fall prey to evangelist efforts. In fact, all Hindus are susceptible. They often target college campuses, hospitals, housing colonies, senior residences, and poor Hindu neighborhoods. They deliberately misquote, mistranslate and misinterpret Hindu scriptures and puranas in an attempt to prove that Jesus was both an avatar and Hindu God.
Their deliberate and dishonest de-legitimization of Hinduism, in concert with misleading exploitation of Hindu symbols, religious artifacts and even traditional music serve to confuse the potential convert, making him/her more vulnerable.
Secular Hindus, social liberals and the media have been very slow in catching on to the fact that the evangelists are in a war, -a war that is cultural, religious and political.
Hindu spirituality involves experience and understanding of life, space, time and the universe. It is beyond that which can be managed by a closed, rigid, dualistic dogma. However, based on its pitiful and absurd understanding of spiritual life, the evangelists call everything outside of its own dogma “superstitions” and subject Hindus to brainwashing and deceptive conversion. Those unwilling to abandon spiritual practices are insulted and bombarded with shameless, wicked psycho linguistic programming.
Hindu culture is significant because it reaffirms for us that we once organized complex civilizations all over the continent. We can take these traditions and generate more advanced ideas for peaceful human survival with freedom and dignity. Let all Hindus join to be free to create, and let a Hindu spiritual revolution be born.
Hindus must vow an iron vow that we will never either tolerate or allow any deceptive mind manipulation of Hindus. This means that no Hindu should participate in such fake organizations. The task is for the lion-hearted Hindus. It requires discipline, commitment and devotion to Hindu culture and society on several levels. Hindus should extricate themselves from the pseudo secular, colonized mind. A colonized mind is always on the verge of submission, the destruction of the creativity, and the suicide of minds. A creative Hindu mind can expose these evangelist wolf dressed in sheep’s skin and preaching dogmatic faith in Hindu cultural garb.

Another central doctrine of Christianity is ‘sins are transferable.’ Adam and Eve commit sin, and all humanity is sinful. Babies are born in sin. People commit crime and Jesus pays for it. Jesus pays for crimes committed only by Christians and that include crimes to be committed in future.

Truth: ‘Sins are not transferable.’ Each of us has to face consequences of our deeds.

C. You wrote ‘Veda is not correct’ as a defense of Bible. You are wrong. Truthful of Veda has no relation on un-truth of Bible. It is only a sorry ‘red herring’ on your part to defend the Bible. Veda cannot be wrong. Veda is the collection of the knowledge base as known to the people living in the Sharaswati river basin. It has mathematics, medicine, architect, philosophies, history, geography and others as known then. A theory or an idea may be wrong, but the collection cannot be wrong. D. There are many version of Jesus all the way from never existed to Jewish Rabbi. I do appreciate his teaching of love to all, a Bhakti margi. There are scholars who forward information on him. According to them his biological father was ‘Panthera’, a Roman soldier. In his teens he ran away to and then again returned to India after being crucified by Romans. Evidently he did not die on the cross. I did not ask why he could not save himself. I state others sins cannot be paid by him. He neither claimed to do so. Otherwise he would have been saying all along that he came to pay for others sins, including sins of Romans. The conversation between Jesus and others, including ordinary people, Jewish priests or Roman governor would have been quite different. Would not that be?

E. Contrary to your assertion Hinduism has one divinity and Christianity has many. I do not know how many Gods there are? Do you know? Have you seen even a single one? Thus, to talk about Monotheism being better than polytheism is nonsense. However, Hinduism considers one divinity ‘Ishwar’, which manifest as many Devi/Devata as per the human needs. Bible starts with the assumption that there are many Gods, each limited by territory. Like God of Delhi or God of Bihar, a geographical issue or local nationalism. Ancient people there used to worship all of them. Moses wanted worshiping only one of them. That is, it is not an understanding that there is only one divinity. Rather it is choosing to worship a single God out of many. That is done to militarize the Jewish tribe. Military can have only one commander. Bible is not really a scripture about spirituality, but subjective political history of Jewish people.

F. Hinduism is a collection of Dharmas. A Dharma is about truth ‘Satya’ and spiritual practice ‘Yoga.’ In essence the path to Heaven is through practice of ‘Good heart’ within and ‘Good deed’ outside. Please read the article ‘Dharma and religion’, ‘Karma’ and ‘Way of knowledge’ for more explanations. Dharma is not religion. Religions like Christianity is about social control through brain washing. They are not comparable. Hindu mythology carries messages within, not just stories like Iliad. Please read the explanation on ‘rebirth’ and law of Karma in the article ‘Karma.’ It is not really about ‘believing’ many births, but about careful thinking and charting out assumptions vs. explanations. ‘Brahman’ is not a person, but the ultimate reality. What you see around is ‘Samsar’ a created reality, a projection of Brahman. It cannot be understood intellectually, but may be realized through meditation. These issues may be a little above your understanding. So first read about and meditate before giving your opinion. Pouring Ghee on statue is culture, not spirituality. It is not like eating flesh and drinking blood of Jesus. Caste system is not about Dharma or Gods, but about social evolution. It is about jobs specialization and motivation, not Dharma. Our Gods love all regardless of caste or creed.

G. Christianity does not allow free thinking. That is why Church burned alive Professor Giordano Bruno for saying ‘Earth moves around the Sun’, and Church\Pope instituted inquisition. They burned books and libraries. Later Europeans had to go searching for their own heritage in foreign libraries. Do you call ‘Inquisition’ freedom of thinking?

The ideological differences on Jesus Christ and the Christian religion are being analyzed with emphasis on historical facts and being centralized on question pertaining to the search of the starting point of the world’s religions. The ancient Vedic Hindu religion is the genesis of civilization. Vedic traditional Hinduism of the old age is the devotee of the Panchadeva (five Gods). ‘Omkar Jagat (followers of OM) is the devotee of Vedic Hindu traditions. The worship of Gods and Goddess- Ganesh (an elephant headed God), Bhagawati (Goddess), Surya (Sun), Shiva (Lord Shiva) and Bishnu(the creator of the world), is compulsory for one who is facing crisis. We confer respect to one another on account of the ancient Vedic Hindu religion. We want Nepal to remain a stable Hindu and Buddhist nation. Nepal is the birth place of both these two religion-Hindu and Buddha. First of all, we should be convinced that the religion is realization; not talk, not doctrine, nor theories, however beautiful they may be. It is being and becoming, not hearing or acknowledging; it is the whole soul becoming changed into what it believes. So, religion is the manifestation of the Divinity already in man. Then, we should understand that the Hindu religion is very ancient, practical and democratic in the way of human life.

Muslim and Christian religions took birth long after the creation of Hindu religion and its civilization. Hindus and Buddhists of Nepal are highly liberal. They respect either of the religions, Christian and Muslim. However, Hindus will not tolerate the attempt made on attacking the popular religion of this place by coming here and trying to evangelize people following other religions. In Nepal, Hindus and Buddhists do not bear any ill will towards Muslims. This is so because Muslims follow their own religion and respect Hinduism and Buddhism, not attack them. So we are not angry towards Muslims. Hindus of Nepal are suspicious and angry towards the Christian workers brokers. Christian’s supporters want to destroy Nepal’s identity. Some Nepalese were turned into Christians before 1768 A.D after the Malla rulers came under influence.

After 1768 A.D the creator of the big Nepal, Prithvi Narayan Shah chased away Capuchin and Christian preachers due to their suspicious activities. So, from then they bore a negative attitude towards Nepal. Facts are not obtained by being angry. Shiva, Buddha and Jesus Christ did not find the right path without deep meditation. The Christians must know who they are, where the religion started and then give respect to other religions. To refrain from all evils, to do what is good, to purify the mind; these are the lesson of all religions. Then, why are Christians forgetting our history and their originality-‘Hinduism’?

‘Long before the dawn of civilizations in other parts of the world, the Vedic sages and seers of Nepal and Bharatavarsha (India) evolved a scientific, universal and eternal way of life, Sanatana Dharma or Hindu Dharma, which spread to distant continents. The Rishis discovered that the source of all creation is a nameless, formless Supreme Being–Parama Purusha–who’s Energy or Power manifests as the entire universe. Modern science agrees with the truth that the entire creation is manifestation of Consciousness or Consciousness – Force as Sri Aurobindo rightly calls. Sun, the source of material world and all forms of life was adored as Savitru — the stimulator or one who vivifies–and His power, as Gayatri–that which protects those who live in tune with Nature. Sun, without which life is impossible, was symbolically represented in the Fire–Agni–and adoration of Fire– Agnihotra — came into existence.’ (Mohan Gupta)

In the context of world religions, we should research the originality of the religions. Jesus Christ and his mother Mary were influenced by Hindu. It may be the Christianity was founded on the life and teachings of a Jew named Jesus Christ. “Christ” is a title and it comes from the Greek form of the Hebrew Messiah, meaning ‘anointed one.’ The English word “Jesus” comes from the Greek form of the Hebrew Joshua, a common name which means ‘savior.’ Christianity was founded on the life and teachings of a Jew named Jesus Christ. Among all religions of the world, Hindu religion is considered as an ancient religion that is recognized as the foundation of civilization and as the most liberal democratic way of life. Almost, 250 years ago, when present India (Hindustan) was not in existence, there were more than 25 nations, the great King Prithvi Narayan Shah expressed 1768 –”Nepal is true Hindustan”

Dr. Swami Prapannacharya in his book ‘Bed Ma Ke Chhha’ has quoted from Sri Baba Swanker, preacher Gopalacharya, Dr. Bukanin, Dr. Spencer, Russian intellectual Dr. Nikal Sanoto from a book ‘Unknown Life of Jesus’ that, “The birth of Jesus Christ was in a Hindu family of India. There is a statue of Christ’s mother ‘Mary’ in Florence. Such a statue is also found in the Church of Macmillan. In the statue Mary is wearing a just Nepalese & Indian’s women’s dress (Sari-Cholo) like that of Hindu queen and a red patch of vermillion (Tika) on the forehead like that of Hindus. Many western intellectuals have also believed that Christ took birth in a Hindu family. ‘God is Light’ is the line of Lord Shiva, light of Christians.

In an art house in Munich, Germany a statue of Jesus Christ is found wearing a robe of a Hindu ascetic with a patch of red vermillion-mark made on forehead (Tika). In the statue found in Florence Jesus is wearing a sacred thread (Janai) like that of a Hindu Bhramin. A picture found at the Vatican Palace in Rome shows Christ having a length of bound hair beginning at the center of a shaved head (known as Tupi in Hinduism) and wearing cloth worn round the waist (Dhoti), looking an appearance of a righteous man (Sadhu). An authoritarian regime of Israel executed Christ who had stayed in Nepal for six years doing meditation. He came back from the grave, as he had acted as if dead, with the power of meditation and left for India.

An Indian scholar Rajiv Malhotra writes-‘The fact is that the Vaidik Yogic path of embodied-knowing seeks to dissolve the historical ego, individual and collective, as false. It sees the Christian fixations on history and the associated guilt, as bondage and illusions to be erased through spiritual practice. Its physical postures are only the tip of an iceberg, beneath which is a distinct metaphysics with profound depth and breadth. Its spiritual benefits are undoubtedly available to anyone regardless of religion.’

Similarly, an Indian scholar Prem Sabhlok expresses-The metaphysics of Socrates and Plato influenced so much the Western social and spiritual thought and brought enlightenment to the West that today WEST describes “Plato as philosophy and philosophy as Plato.” We the followers of Vedic Sanatan Dharma in India seem to have forgotten that that source of his writings and philosophy was Vedic metaphysics. Before Plato, Pythagoras went from Samos (Greece) to land of Ganga to learn Geometry. He would not have gone such a long and strange journey had the reputation of Brahmin’s (Vedic) science not been long established in Europe. (Francois. M. Voltaire). Plato left Athens for about one decade and visited Prasava (Persia), Ariana (Iran) and North West part of the then India-land of Aryans. Kalyanaraman says- Hinduism was a storehouse of knowledge and enlightenment and, if fully researched, could provide answers to the issues facing the contemporary society.

The word Mother is taken from Matri and Father or Peter from Pitri. There are many words that in time have changed in such a way.

The ‘Omen’ word used by Christian is similar to the ‘OM’ used by Hindus. Hindus worship the Sun God on Sunday; similarly the Christians worship Christ on Sunday. In view of all these, the Christian nations and Christian mission ought to respect the greatness of Hinduism and competent views of it. Many words had taken from Sanskrit. Mother (Maathru), Father (Pithru), Bhraatha(Braathru), Geriatric(Jaraa), Nose(Naasikaa), Mortal(Mruthyaha), Door(Dwaaraa), Two(Dhwe), Three(thri), Divine(Divya) and so on.

The Sanskrit word made Samittee from which Committee was made. The word Prasad is like Palace, Charitar for Character, Danta for Dante. Like Christianity developed from Hinduism the Greek, Latin took birth from Sanskrit language. Famous French intellect Dr. Jekreliot Bible has accepted the Hindu science. He says ‘The Hindu Revelation (Veda) is of all revelations, the only ideas are in perfect harmony with modern science as it proclaims the slow and gradual formation of the world.” German philosopher Nieztse has said, ‘The law book of Manu is incomparably greater intellectual work than the Bible.’

May this analytical and research-based work in regard to who Jesus Christ was and what religion was he influenced of and how Christian religion started to be considered by all. We, Hindus respect the only Jews state ‘Israel’ of the world. Lastly, it is our appeal to the Christian missions and Christian nations that they confer their rich respect to the only pure Hindu nation of Nepal. May there be efforts to the effect of eradicating the negative views of Hindus towards Christianity. So, all the Christians and Christian world must regard the Vedic Hindu religion and NEPAL as a ‘Hindu Kingdom.’

India’s 1935 British Constitution Grants American Born Tourists 5 Year Visa while Natives of India (NRI) can stay only for six months. This is causing massive Christianizing in India especially in undeveloped and tribal places. Their only Aim is to perpetual colonization by division. Not correct. There cannot be peace where there is at least one intolerant religion. This is simple logic, and the proof is in the past and current history where Islam has invaded. The intolerant religions need to be declared illegal in the countries who love freedom and whose religions and cultures are tolerant. The intolerant religions need to be kept within the boundaries of the countries where they were born. There are nonviolent ways to purge any intolerant religion out of a country, e.g. one way is economic boycott. The first need is to change the constitution, by grass root united action, making any intolerant religion illegal. Other actions become easier when this is done. – Skanda
