Christian Propaganda in Nepal

Background: On July 14, 2012 we were invited to watch a documentary on Nepal made by an American family who speak Nepali and lived in Nepal for a few years. To our surprise, the documentary “Priti ko malik – Priti’s master” is a Christian propaganda designed for conversion. The movie begins with a Nepali father selling his daughter ‘Priti’ of about 10 years old to a cruel master. Nepalese are depicted as poor, cultureless, valueless and Dharmaless people. The poor girl has to work hard, wear burlap cloth and beaten often. She finds a friend – a lady primary school teacher. The teacher is a Christian missionary and teaches 7 or 8 years old pupils not humanities or science but Christian doctrines that ‘Jesus is the only salvation.’ She converts Priti to Christianity. The cruel master finally beats Priti so bad that she dies. As Jesus she was dead in her mud hut for 3 days. The teacher buries her. The cruel master repents and converts to Christianity. Then there was the invasion of heathen Japanese army in Nepal. The ‘never happened event’ is lamely explained that it happened in Philippines. Japanese soldiers order the master to bow to the Japanese King’s photo. He refuses on the ground that he bows only to Jesus. Japanese soldiers execute the master and make him a Christian martyr.

Thanks for inviting to watch your Christian propaganda documentary “Priti ko malik.” It depicts Nepalese people as poor, cultureless, valueless and Dharmaless people; and Christianity as the only salvation. Such one way propaganda is not acceptable. There has to be a dialogue – both ways.

Yes, presently we are poor. It is just a matter of historical cycle. But we are not cultureless people. For example, we do not invite guests and insult them. Our civilization goes back to the pre-historical time of Shiva. Even King Janak and Princess Sita of Ramayana were almost a thousand years before Adam and Eve (4006 BC). By the way, that is where Cain got his wife. In the ‘Deluge’ even the Himalayan range was 3 feet under the water. For whole year we had to stand on hill tops to survive, and all others perished. We still call that the ‘year of cold butt.’ And that is why all the good people today are descendants of the Himalayan people.

I recognize you both are missionaries of Baptist – Christian religion. However, you may notice that we practice Dharma not religion. We have many Dharmas in Nepal like Buddha dharma, Shiva dharma, Vishnu dharma etc, which are collectively known as Hindu dharma or Hinduism. Dharma is not religion. Dharma is about seeking truth ‘Satya’ and spiritual practices ‘Yoga.’ A religion is about social innovation for tribal survival through militarization of society. Thus religion and Dharma acts in different planes. For example, you cannot be a Christian and a Muslim, but can be a Christian and a Buddhist same time.

Here are three articles to explain the basics of Dharma: ‘Dharma and religion’, ‘Karma – theory and practice’, and ‘Gnan yoga – Way of knowledge.’ You are welcome to learn, ask questions or write criticisms.

 

In the same token here are a few questions on Christianity. Please do respond.

A. Truth is – good people go to heaven, bad people go to hell. On the contrary, Christianity states, “All Christians go to heaven, no matter how evil. And all others go to hell, no matter how virtuous.”

John 14:6 Jesus said to him, “I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through Me.

 

Acts 4:12 Nor is there salvation in any other, for there is no other name under heaven given among men by which we must be saved.

 

John 3:16-18 For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son. Whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life. But he who does not believe is condemned already.

 

Accordingly, all your non-Christian ancestors are in hell. Is it true? Do you agree?

Let me tell you, they were virtuous and are in heaven.

B. Truth is – a person may practice ‘good heart’ inside and ‘good deed’ out side to go to heaven. Any beliefs, true or not, are irrelevant. Compare it with the Christian doctrine that a mere belief ‘Jesus is Christ’ will open heaven for you. If you do not believe it then you go to hell. Do you agree? Can it be true?

C. Truth is – sins are not transferable. A person has to face the consequences of the person’s deeds, good for good, and bad for bad. Like school grades or head aches they cannot be wished away to others. On the contrary, Christian doctrines state that the original sin of Adam\Eve is transmitted to all humanity and thus babies are born in sin. Jesus pays for other’s sin, even for the crimes which are not even committed yet. Do you agree? Can it be true?

D. The doctrine comes from the Jewish superstition and practice that you can transfer your sins to an ‘escape goat.’ Jews sacrifice or slit throat of a poor sheep to God. They believe that would incur divine justice of punishing the sheep instead of the real criminal. Do you agree? Can it be true? Same concept is blown that God himself sacrificed his own son Jesus to pay for our sin. Here is a question. God sacrificed Jesus? To whom?

E. Jesus was a nice guy, a great spiritual master, a Buddhist scholar who lived most of his life in India and died in Shrinagar, Kashmir, India. Even today there is a temple where he is buried and people claiming to be his descendants.

F. Jesus’s teachings are mostly based upon Buddha and Shiva dharma traditions. His sublime teachings like ‘love even your enemies’ is most admirable. But Jesus’s teachings are not the central message of Christianity. For example, what happens to Jewish people who actually met Jesus and practiced his preaching ‘love all?’ According to Christianity, they all will go to hell merely because they do not believe ‘Jesus is Christ.’ Do you agree? Can it be true?

I am a science student, not a theologian. However, tons of material is available on the authenticity of Christianity or lack of it. I am giving a few below. Please help yourself. If you have any questions please feel free to contact.

When a Jesuit of the minor rank is to be, elevated to command, he is conducted into the Chapel of the Convent of the Order, where there are only three others present, the principal or Superior standing in front of the altar. On either side stands a monk, one of whom holds a banner of yellow and white, which are the Papal colors, and the other a black banner with a dagger and red cross above a skull and crossbones, with the word INRI, and below them the words IUSTUM, NECAR, REGES, IMPIOUS. The meaning of which is: It is just to exterminate or annihilate impious or heretical Kings, Governments, or Rulers. Upon the floor is a red cross at which the postulant or candidate kneels. The Superior hands him a small black crucifix, which he takes in his left hand and presses to his heart, and the Superior at the same time presents to him a dagger, which he grasps by the blade and holds the point against his heart, the Superior still holding it by the hilt, and thus addresses the postulant:

Superior:

My son, heretofore you have been taught to act the dissembler: among Roman Catholics to be a Roman Catholic, and to be a spy even among your own brethren; to believe no man, to trust no man. Among the Reformers, to be a reformer; among the Huguenots, to be a Huguenot; among the Calvinists, to be a Calvinist; among other Protestants, generally to be a Protestant, and obtaining their confidence, to seek even to preach from their pulpits, and to denounce with all the vehemence in your nature our Holy Religion and the Pope; and even to descend so low as to become a Jew among Jews, that you might be enabled to gather together all information for the benefit of your Order as a faithful soldier of the Pope.

You have been taught to insidiously plant the seeds of jealousy and hatred between communities, provinces, states that were at peace, and incite them to deeds of blood, involving them in war with each other, and to create revolutions and civil wars in countries that were independent and prosperous, cultivating the arts and the sciences and enjoying the blessings of peace. To take sides with the combatants and to act secretly with your brother Jesuit, who might be engaged on the other side, but openly opposed to that with which you might be connected, only that the Church might be the gainer in the end, in the conditions fixed in the treaties for peace and that the end justifies the means.

You have been taught your duty as a spy, to gather all statistics, facts and information in your power from every source; to ingratiate yourself into the confidence of the family circle of Protestants and heretics of every class and character, as well as that of the merchant, the banker, the lawyer, among the schools and universities, in parliaments and legislatures, and the judiciaries and councils of state, and to ‘be all things to all men,’ for the Pope’s sake, whose servants we are unto death.

You have received all your instructions heretofore as a novice, a neophyte, and have served as co-adjurer, confessor and priest, but you have not yet been invested with all that is necessary to command in the Army of Loyola in the service of the Pope. You must serve the proper time as the instrument and executioner as directed by your superiors; for none can command here who has not consecrated his labors with the blood of the heretic; for ‘without the shedding of blood no man can be saved.’ Therefore, to fit yourself for your work and make your own salvation sure, you will, in addition to your former oath of obedience to your order and allegiance to the Pope, repeat after me—-

The Extreme Oath of the Jesuits:

 “I, _________ now, in the presence of Almighty God, the Blessed Virgin Mary, the blessed Michael the Archangel, the blessed St. John the Baptist, the holy Apostles St. Peter and St. Paul and all the saints and sacred hosts of heaven, and to you, my ghostly father, the Superior General of the Society of Jesus, founded by St. Ignatius Loyola in the Pontificate of Paul the Third, and continued to the present, do by the womb of the virgin, the matrix of God, and the rod of Jesus Christ, declare and swear, that the holiness the Pope is Christ’s Vice-regent and is the true and only head of the Catholic or Universal Church throughout the earth; and that by virtue of the keys of binding and loosing, given to his Holiness by my Savior, Jesus Christ, he hath power to depose heretical kings, princes, states, commonwealths and governments, all being illegal without his sacred confirmation and that they may safely be destroyed. Therefore, to the utmost of my power I shall and will defend this doctrine of his Holiness’ right and custom against all usurpers of the heretical or Protestant authority whatever, especially the Lutheran of German, Holland, Denmark, Sweden, Norway, and the now pretended authority and churches of England and Scotland, and branches of the same now established in Ireland and on the Continent of America and elsewhere; and all adherents in regard that they be usurped and heretical, opposing the sacred Mother Church of Rome. I do now renounce and disown any allegiance as due to any heretical king, prince or state named Protestants or Liberals, or obedience to any of the laws, magistrates or officers.

I do further declare that the doctrine of the churches of England and Scotland, of the Calvinists, Huguenots and others of the name Protestants or Liberals to be damnable and they themselves damned who will not forsake the same.

I do further declare, that I will help, assist, and advise all or any of his Holiness’ agents in any place wherever I shall be, in Switzerland, Germany, Holland, Denmark, Sweden, Norway, England, Ireland or America, or in any other Kingdom or territory I shall come to, and do my uttermost to extirpate the heretical Protestants of Liberals’ doctrines and to destroy all their pretended powers, regal or otherwise.

I do further promise and declare, that notwithstanding I am dispensed with, to assume my religion heretical, for the propaganda of the Mother Church’s interest, to keep secret and private all her agents’ counsels from time to time, as they may entrust me and not to divulge, directly or indirectly, by word, writing or circumstance whatever; but to execute all that shall be proposed, given in charge or discovered unto me, by you, my ghostly father, or any of this sacred covenant.

I do further promise and declare, that I will have no opinion or will of my own, or any mental reservation whatever, even as a corpse or cadaver (perinde ac cadaver), but will unhesitatingly obey each and every command that I may receive from my superiors in the Militia of the Pope and of Jesus Christ.

That I may go to any part of the World withersoever I may be sent, to the frozen regions of the North, the burning sands of the desert of Africa, or the jungles of India, to the centers of civilization of Europe, or to the wild haunts of the barbarous savages of America, without murmuring or repining, and will be submissive in all things whatsoever communicated to me.

I furthermore promise and declare that I will, when opportunity presents, make and wage relentless war, secretly or openly, against all heretics, Protestants and Liberals, as I am directed to do, to extirpate and exterminate them from the face of the whole earth; and that I will spare neither age, sex or condition; and that I will hang, waste, boil, flay, strangle and bury alive these infamous heretics, rip up the stomachs and wombs of their women and crush their infants’ heads against the walls, in order to annihilate forever their execrable race. That when the same cannot be done openly, I will secretly use the poisoned cup, the Strangulating cord, the steel of the poniard or the leaden bullet, regardless of the honor, rank, dignity, or authority of the person or persons, whatever may be their condition in life, either public or private, as I at any time may be directed so to do by any agent of the Pope or Superior of the Brotherhood of the Holy Faith, of the Society of Jesus.

In confirmation of which, I hereby dedicate my life, my soul and all my corporal powers, and with this dagger which I now receive, I will subscribe my name written in my own blood, in testimony thereof; and should I prove false or weaken in my determination, may my brethren and fellow soldiers of the Militia of the Pope cut off my hands and my feet, and my throat from ear to ear, my belly opened and sulphur burned therein, with all the punishment that can be inflicted upon me on earth and my soul be tortured by demons in an eternal hell forever!

All of which, I, _______________, do swear by the Blessed Trinity and blessed Sacraments, which I am now to receive, to perform and on my part to keep inviolable; and do call all the heavenly and glorious host of heaven to witness the blessed Sacrament of the Eucharist, and witness the same further with my name written and with the point of this dagger dipped in my own blood and sealed in the face of this holy covenant.”

(He receives the wafer from the Superior and writes his name with the point of his dagger dipped in his own blood taken from over his heart.)

Superior:

“You will now rise to your feet and I will instruct you in the Catechism necessary to make yourself known to any member of the Society of Jesus belonging to this rank.

In the first place, you, as a Brother Jesuit, will with another mutually make the ordinary sign of the cross as any ordinary Roman Catholic would; then one crosses his wrists, the palms of his hands open, and the other in answer crosses his feet, one above the other; the first points with forefinger of the right hand to the center of the palm of the left, the other with the forefinger of the left hand points to the center of the palm of the right; the first then with his right hand makes a circle around his head, touching it; the other then with the forefinger of his left hand touches the left side of his body just below his heart; the first then with his right hand draws it across the throat of the other, and the latter then with a dagger down the stomach and abdomen of the first. The first then says Iustum; and the other answers Necar; the first Reges. The other answers Impious.” (The meaning of which has already been explained.) “The first will then present a small piece of paper folded in a peculiar manner, four times, which the other will cut longitudinally and on opening the name Jesu will be found written upon the head and arms of a cross three times. You will then give and receive with him the following questions and answers:

Question—From whither do you come?
Answer—The Holy faith.

Q.—Whom do you serve?
A.—The Holy Father at Rome, the Pope, and the Roman Catholic Church Universal throughout the world.

Q.—Who commands you?
A.—The Successor of St. Ignatius Loyola, the founder of the Society of Jesus or the Soldiers of Jesus Christ.

Q.—Who received you?
A.—A venerable man in white hair.

Q.—How?
A.—With a naked dagger, I kneeling upon the cross beneath the banners of the Pope and of our sacred order.

Q.—Did you take an oath?
A.—I did, to destroy heretics and their governments and rulers, and to spare neither age, sex nor condition. To be as a corpse without any opinion or will of my own, but to implicitly obey my Superiors in all things without hesitation of murmuring.

Q.—Will you do that?
A.—I will.

Q.—How do you travel?
A.—In the bark of Peter the fisherman.

Q.—Whither do you travel?
A.—To the four quarters of the globe.

Q.—For what purpose?
A.—To obey the orders of my general and Superiors and execute the will of the Pope and faithfully fulfill the conditions of my oaths.

Q.—Go ye, then, into all the world and take possession of all lands in the name of the Pope. He, who will not accept him as the Vicar of Jesus and his Viceregent on earth, let him be accursed and exterminated.”

The Oath of a Catholic Priest

“I do declare from my heart, without mental reservation. That the Pope is Christ’s vicar-general and is the true and only head of the Universal Church throughout the world, and that by virtue of the Keys of binding and loosing given to his Holiness by Jesus Christ, he has power to depose heretical kings, princes, states, commonwealths and governments, all being illegal without his sacred Confirmation, and that they may safely be destroyed. Therefore, to the utmost of my power, I will defend this doctrine and his Holiness’ rights and customs against all usurpers of the Protestant authority whatsoever, especially against the now pretended authority of the Church of England and all adherents, in regard that they may be usurped and heretical, opposing the Sacred Mother, the Church of Rome.

I do renounce and disown any allegiance as due to any Protestant king, prince, or state, or obedience to any of their inferior officers. I do further declare the doctrine of the Church of England, of the Calvinist, Huguenots, and other Protestants, to be damnable and those to be damned who will not forsake the same.

This is a group which performs Indian dances in Hindu institutions and Hindu functions with Indian music.

 

They wear Indian clothes..and charge exuberant rates to perform..

 

The Hindus, happy to see whites performing Hindu dancing with Hindu music are mesmerized.

 

This group has missions in India as well… all to harvest and save the souls of Hindus..

 

This is the aim of missionaries…

 

Hindus should be alert not to fall in their trap ….are we funding them to convert our own Hindus.. How more can we Hindus be stupid..

 

There are missionaries who wear dhotis, put a mark on their heads and wear saris to trick the Hindus..

 

They play harmonium, tabla and sing bhajans like the hindus ,, only they use Christ in the songs..

 

The Hindus think it is wonderful and invite them in our temples to sing…

 

Are we helping them in their mission?

 

 

Hindus get alert, and spread the message…

 

Are we funding our own enemy…..has history not taught us a lesson

Gandhiji was not awarded the Nobel peace prize because he refused to be converted. Now that missionaries are spreading their tentacles far and wide in India converting people by allurement, inducement and fraud (In the north east killings and threats are becoming commonplace) Gandhiji’s message is all the more relevant in understanding and reacting to this problem. I Call Myself a Sanatani Hindu

 

I call myself a Sanatani Hindu, because I believe in the Vedas, the Upanishads, the Puranas, and all that goes by the name of Hindu scripture, and therefore in avataras and rebirth; I believe in the varnashrama dharma in a sense, in my opinion strictly Vedic but not in its presently popular and distorted crude sense; I believe in the protection of cow. I do not disbelieve in murti puja. (Young India: June 10, 1921)

 

Why I am Not a Convert

 

Hinduism as I know it entirely satisfies my soul, and fills my whole being. When doubts haunt me, when disappointments stare me in the face, and when I see not one ray of light on the horizon, I turn to the Bhagavad Gita, and find a verse to comfort me; and I immediately begin to smile in the midst of overwhelming sorrow. My life has been full of tragedies and if they have not left any visible and indelible effect on me, I owe it to the teachings of the Bhagavad Gita. (Young India: June 8, 1925)

 

I Disbelieve in Conversion

 

I disbelieve in the conversion of one person by another. My effort should never to be to undermine another’s faith. This implies belief in the truth of all religions and, therefore, respect for them. It implies true humility. (Young India: April 23, 1931)

 

Conversion: Impediment to Peace

 

It is impossible for me to reconcile myself to the idea of conversion after the style that goes on in India and elsewhere today. It is an error which is perhaps the greatest impediment to the world’s progress toward peace. Why should a Christian want to convert a Hindu to Christianity? Why should he not be satisfied if the Hindu is a good or godly man? (Harijan: January 30, 1937)

 

No Such Thing as Conversion

 

I believe that there is no such thing as conversion from one faith to another in the accepted sense of the word. It is a highly personal matter for the individual and his God. I may not have any design upon my neighbor as to his faith which I must honor even as I honor my own. Having reverently studied the scriptures of the world I could no more think of asking a Christian or a Musalman, or a Parsi or a Jew to change his faith than I would think of changing my own. No Conversion Designs Upon Me

 

I am not interested in weaning you from Christianity and making you Hindu, and I do not relish your designs upon me, if you had any, to convert me to Christianity. I would also dispute your claim that Christianity is the only true religion. (Harijan: June 3, 1937)

 

Conversion

 

Conversion must not mean denationalization. Conversion should mean a definite giving up of the evil of the old, adoption of all the good of the new and a scrupulous avoidance of everything evil in the new. Conversion, therefore, should mean a life of greater dedication to one’s country, greater surrender to God, greater self-purification. (Young India: August 20, 1925)

 

Aping of Europeans and Americans

 

As I wander about through the length and breadth of India I see many Christian Indians almost ashamed of their birth, certainly of their ancestral religion, and of their ancestral dress. The aping of Europeans by Anglo-Indians is bad enough, but the aping of them by Indian converts is a violence done to their country and, shall I say, even to their new religion. (Young India: August 8, 1925)

 

Why Should I Change My Religion

 

I hold that proselytization under the cloak of humanitarian work is unhealthy to say the least. It is most resented by people here. Religion after all is a deeply personal thing. It touches the heart.

 

Why should I change my religion because the doctor who professes Christianity as his religion has cured me of some disease, or why should the doctor expect me to change whilst I am under his influence? (Young India: April 23, 1931)

 

Missionary Aim: Uprooting Hinduism

 

My fear is that though Christian friends nowadays do not say or admit it that Hindu religion is untrue, they must harbor in their breast that Hinduism is an error and that Christianity, as they believe it, is the only true religion. So far as one can understand the present (Christian) effort, it is to uproot Hinduism from her very foundation and replace it by another faith. (Harijan: March 13,1937)

 

Undermining People’s Faith

 

The first distinction I would like to make between your missionary work and mine is that while I am strengthening the faith of people, you (missionaries) are undermining it. (Young India: November 8, 1927)

 

Physician, Heal Yourself

 

Conversion nowadays has become a matter of business, like any other. India (Hindus) is in no need of conversion of this kind. Conversion in the sense of self-purification, self-realization is the crying need of the times. That however is never what is meant by proselytization. To those who would convert India (Hindus), might it not be said, “Physician, heal yourself.” (Young India: April 23, 1931)

 

Missionaries: Vendors of Goods

 

When the missionary of another religion goes to them, he goes like a vendor of goods. He has no special spiritual merit that will distinguish him from those to whom he goes. He does however possess material goods which he promises to those who will come to his fold. (Harijan: April 3, 1937)

 

If I had the Power and Could Legislate

 

If I had the power and could legislate, I should stop all proselytizing. In Hindu households the advent of a missionary has meant the disruption of the family coming in the wake of change of dress, manners, language, food and drink. (November 5, 1935)

 

The Only Begotten Son of God?

 

I regard Jesus as a great teacher of humanity, but I do not regard him as the only begotten son of God. That epithet in its material interpretation is quite unacceptable. Metaphorically we are all sons of God, but for each of us there may be different sons of God in a special sense. Thus for me Chaitanya may be the only begotten son of God. God cannot be the exclusive Father and I cannot ascribe exclusive divinity to Jesus. (Harijan: June 3, 1937)

 

Western Christianity Today

 

It is my firm opinion that Europe (and the United States) does not represent the spirit of God or Christianity but the spirit of Satan. And Satan’s successes are the greatest when appears with the name of God on his lips. (Young India: September 8, 1920)

 

I consider western Christianity in its practical working a negation of Christ’s Christianity. I cannot conceive Jesus, if he was living in flesh in our midst, approving of modern Christian organizations, public worship, or ministry. (Young India: September 22, 1921)

 

Christianity and Imperialistic Exploitation

 

Christianity in India has been inextricably mixed up for the last one hundred and fifty years with British rule. It appears to us as synonymous with materialistic civilization and imperialistic exploitation by the stronger white races of the weaker races of the world. Its contribution to India has been, therefore, largely negative. (Young India: March 21, 1929)

 

No Room For Them

 

In the manner in which they are working there would seem to be no room for them. Quite unconsciously they do harm to themselves and also to us. It is perhaps impertinent to say that they do harm to themselves, but quite pertinent to say that they do harm to us. They do harm to those amongst whom they work and those amongst whom they do not work; i.e., the harm is done to the whole of India. The more I study their activities the more sorry I become. It is a tragedy that such a thing should happen to the human family. (Harijan: December 12, 1936)

 

Outrage!

 

Only the other day a missionary descended on a famine area with money in his pocket, distributed it among the famine stricken, converted them to his fold, took charge of their temple, and demolished it. This is outrageous. (Harijan: November 5, 1937)

 

Let the Hindu be a Better Hindu

 

I came to the conclusion long ago that all religions were true and also that all had some error in them, and whilst I hold by my own, I should hold others as dear as Hinduism. So we can only pray, if we are Hindus, not that a Christian should become a Hindu. But our innermost prayer should be a Hindu should be a better Hindu, a Muslim a better Muslim, a Christian a better Christian. (Young India: January 19, 1928)

 

Welcome Them Back

 

If a person through fear, compulsion, starvation, or for material gain or consideration goes over to another faith, it is a misnomer to call it conversion. Most cases of conversion have been to my mind a false coin. I would therefore unhesitatingly re-admit to the Hindu fold all such repentants without much ado. If a man comes back to the original branch, he deserves to be welcomed in so far as he may deem to have erred, he has sufficiently purged himself of it when he repents his error and retraces his steps. He unleashes a series of calamities on the unfortunate Egyptians – plagues of blood, frogs, gnats, flies, boils, locusts and finally, “At midnight the Lord struck down all the first born in Egypt, from the firstborn of Pharaoh, to the firstborn of the prisoner in the dungeon and the firstborn of all livestock as well.” [Exodus 12:29]

The OT God calls the Israelites his chosen people.
He promised Abraham: “I will make you into a great nation.I will make your name great.” [Genesis, chap 12:2] “To your descendants I give this land from the river of Egypt to the great river, the Euphrates – the land of the Kenites, Amorites, Hittites, Canaanites, .” [Genesis, 15:18-21].
What about the people living there?

The Lord’s strategy is to liberate his favoured people by dispossessing the others: “My angel will go ahead of you and bring you into the land of the Amorites, Hittites, Canaanites, … and I will wipe them out.I will send terror ahead of you and throw into confusion every nation that you encounter. Gradually I will drive them out until you have increased enough to take possession of the land. I will hand over to you the people who live in the land and you will drive them out.” [Exodus, 23:23-31]

“If you will not listen to me. then I will bring upon you sudden terror, wasting diseases and fever that will destroy your sight. I will punish you for your sins seven times over. (NOTE:  This is to inform that a Christian Loan Officer/ Mortgage Broker denied to work with a Hindu Temple to obtain loan because his Christian Religion would not allow him to work with Hindus because we believe in Image worship. He has given several quotations from the Bible as to why he could not work with Hindu Temple. (Name of the Loan Officer and the exact name of Hindu Temples are omitted to preserve their identity)

GHHF prepared a response and requested the Christian Loan Officer/ Mortgage Broker to answer the questions raised in the letter. Nearly four months after the response letter was sent by Hindu Temple, no further explanation from the Loan Officer was received.

I. This is the letter a Hindu temple received from a Christian Loan Officer/ Mortgage Broker

Dear __________:

Please accept my sincere apology for the delay in getting this email sent to you.  I realize I needed to get this to you before your Saturday morning meeting.

To understand this email, you must know that I serve one God;
Yahweh, the God of Abraham, Issac and Jacob.  I am a servant of His Son, Yeshua.  I trust and obey His Word as revealed in the ancient writings of the books of Genesis through Revelation; commonly known as the Holy Bible.

At our first meeting, in your home, I realized you have put your faith in the Hindu religion.  I asked Yahweh;
why am I here and what does He want me to do for you?  He answered me…”serve him and let your service be a witness to Him and his family.”

The scripture He gave me in regards to my service to you and your family was:

Whatever you do, do your work heartily, as for the Lord rather than for men, Colossians 3:23

Serving you and your family has blessed me.  Since I only work by referral to those Yahweh brings into my path, I am so very grateful for the referrals through you to XXXXX, your brother in law XXXXX, and the resulting referral to XXXXXX.  I have worked hard to faithfully serve them and their families as well.

Regarding the $4M-$10M financing opportunity we discussed for the building of the temple and the six figure commission that would likely result;  I am unable to serve you with this;  it would be against my God, Yahweh, and His Kingdom and also be against you, my brother and neighbor.

The scriptures He gave me are:

For what does it profit a man to gain the whole world, and forfeit his soul?  Mark 8:36

This is not a difficult decision for me except that I care deeply for you and your family.  I’ve been praying since our meeting Monday afternoon “Lord, how can I be a witness for You and also love XXXX, my brother, neighbor and friend?”

He answered me through His Word which says:

Bear one another’s burdens, and thereby fulfill the law of Christ.  Galatians 6:2
35 One of them, a lawyer, asked Him a question, testing Him, 36 “Teacher, which is the great commandment in the Law?” 37 And He said to him, “ ‘ You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart, and with all your soul, and with all your mind.’ 38 This is the great and foremost commandment. 39 The second is like it, ‘ You shall love your neighbor as yourself.’ 40 On these two commandments depend the whole Law and the Prophets.”  Matthew 22:35-40

XXXX, if there is anything I can do to help you and your family, please know I am here to help bear your burdens and love you.  I would like very much to introduce you to the Son of my God.  His name is Yeshua, which means salvation.  I testify that Yeshua has brought life into this dead man’s soul.  Yeshua has paid my debts in full which I could never ever pay on my own (and He’s done the same for you!).  Yeshua has provided a way for me to have life eternally and live forever in His presence.

Though I had a thousand years to live, I could not do justice to the testimony of what Yeshua has done for me.  Yahweh is the One, True and Living, God;
He does not dwell in houses made by human hands nor does His Spirit inhabit idols made with wood, gold or silver.  If you are willing, I would love to tell you about my God.

II: Response by Hindu Temples (Prepared by GHHF)

Dear ______________, Loan OFFICER:

Thank you for response to our request for $4M – $10M loan to build a Hindu Temple in Frisco. We are sorry to hear that you are not able to help us in this regard because of your full faith “in Yeshua, my Savior and King;  for Yahweh, my God and His Kingdom.”  In fact you also stated that “ I am unable to serve you with this; it would be against my God, Yahweh, and His Kingdom and also be against you, my brother and neighbor.” To make your point clear, you have quoted few passages from Bible that helped you to make a decision to forego six figure commission and obey your God’s commands: Mark 8:36;  Exodus 20:1-6; Psalm 127:1; Galatians 6:2; and Matthew 22:35-40.  Obviously you felt compelled to follow your scriptural injunctions and not to go against God, Yahweh.

You have also stated in your email that  “Yahweh is the One, True and Living, God; He does not dwell in houses made by human hands nor does His Spirit inhabit idols made with wood, gold or silver. “

We do not have enough knowledge to understand the entire Bible. I am sure you can help us understand the Bible. You also mentioned that: “If you are willing, I would love to tell you about my God.”  I would love to sit with you and know about your God. I have few other friends who may be interested in joining me.

I am Surprised

On behalf of our ____________Temple, I approached you thinking that “We ask, you give.” I was surprised to read your response. Because Bible dictates certain code of ethics that many believers follow.  By looking at what is written these verses, we believed that it will be considered fairly and “will be given.”

Matthew 7:7-8 “Ask and it will be given to you; seek and you will find; knock and the door will be opened to you. For everyone who asks receives; he who seeks finds;
and to him who knocks, the door will be opened.

Also we find another similar verse in Mark 11:24 Therefore I tell you, whatever you ask for in prayer, believe that you have received it, and it will be yours.

I am surprised at your response because you said that you do not want to go against your GOD. Don’t you think that your decision not to work with our Temples goes against the God’s command to give. How come it is not given when asked?

FEW QUERIES FOR MY UNDERSTANDING

In the meanwhile I wanted to ask you few questions so that I may understand your position with regard to some of the verses in Bible. Your response to these following queries would help me understand your faith.

1) Sabbath

Overwhelming majority of Christians believe in Ten Commandments. With regard to Sabbath, Exodus 35:2 commands:

For six days, work is to be done, but the seventh day shall be your holy day, a Sabbath of rest to the LORD. Whoever does any work on it must be put to death.

Who will put them to death? Is it police or Church? You know that millions and millions of people work on Sunday (Sabbath day). All the shops are open where millions are working. Many sports are played on Sunday. Even Christian Book stores are open defying the word of God. I am sure you thought about it since you would not go against your God. How do we deal with these people and put them to death. Exodus 20:9 even specifies as to who should not work: “you shall not do any work – you, your son or your daughter, your male or female slave, your livestock or the alien resident in your towns.”

2) Buy Slaves

Leviticus 25:44 states that “Your male and female slaves are to come from the nations around you; from them you may buy slaves.”

Can we purchase slaves from our neighboring nations such as Canada and Mexico? Do we need to get permission from the government? Or shall we simply follow the Bible without going through the trouble of checking with the government authorities?

3) Daughters as Slaves
Exodus 21:7 states that “When a man sells his daughter as a slave, she will not be freed at the end of six years as the men are.” It appears that a man can sell his daughters as slaves and she cannot be freed even after six years.  Do you know if anybody is selling his daughters and what is the fair price at this time?  If we do not sell our daughters, don’t you think we are denying the GOD?  If we follow God’s command, I believe we can solve the problem of baby sitters. There appears to be a discrimination based on sex. How do we deal with the government that takes away the power of God?

4) Adultery
Leviticus 20:13 “‘If a man has sexual relations with a man as one does with a woman, both of them have done what is detestable. They are to be put to death;
their blood will be on their own head.”

Leviticus 20:10 “If a man commits adultery with another man’s wife–with the wife of his neighbor–both the adulterer and the adulteress must be put to death.”

Deuteronomy 22:22  “If a man is found sleeping with another man’s wife, both the man who slept with her and the woman must die. You must purge the evil from Israel.”

Bible is clear that the adulterers must be put to death.  According to research studies that an average of about 70 percent men, and 60 percent women admit to having cheated on a spouse/long-term partner at some point in their lives.

What do we do with these adulterers? Do we put them to death? How do we put them to death? How do we know they committed adultery? Who is going to monitor?

5) Rebellious Sons

Deuteronomy 21:18-21 says: “If someone has a stubborn and rebellious son who will not obey his father and mother, who does not heed them when they discipline him, then his father and his mother shall take hold of him and bring him out to the elders of his town at the gate of that place. They shall say to the elders of his town, ‘This son of ours is stubborn and rebellious. He will not obey us. He is a glutton and a drunkard.’ Then all the men of the town shall stone him to death. So you shall purge the evil from your midst; and all Israel will hear, and be afraid.”

Is there any specification of the age of the sons that need the punishment? Do you know where all these stubborn and rebellious sons are stoned to death? Why do we need Juvenile Justice System to prosecute these rebellious sons? We can save lot of money if we follow the dictates of the Holy Bible! How many parents report their sons’ misbehavior to the elders of the town to stone them to death?

6) Women

1 Timothy 2:11-12;
“A woman should learn in quietness and full submission. do not permit a woman to teach or to have authority over a man; she must be silent.”

Corinthians 14:34-35;
“Women should be silent during the church meetings. It is not proper for them to speak. They should be submissive, just as the law says. If they have any questions, they should ask their husbands at home, for it is improper for women to speak in church meetings.”

We all know that are millions of women teachers in US and all over the world. What do we do with them? Is it time to fire them because God forbade them?  Do you advocate their removal because they are not permitted to teach according to the Lord.

There are also many women who are in authoritative positions over men.  We know that many governors, Senators, Prime Ministers, Presidents and Cabinet members who are in authoritative positions.  We had Golda Meier as Prime Minister of Israel, the Queen as head of England,  Margaret Thatcher as British Prime Minister,  Isabel Peron as President of Argentina, Indira Gandhi as Prime Minister, and so on. At least twenty countries had women in authoritative positions ruling the countries?  How do we deal with them?  They are all going against the word of God.

7) Amputation

Mathew 18: 8-9;
“If your hand or your foot causes you to sin, cut it off and throw it away. It is better for you to enter life maimed or crippled than to have two hands or two feet and be thrown into eternal fire. And if your eye causes you to sin, gouge it out and throw it away. It is better for you to enter life with one eye than to have two eyes and be thrown into the fire of hell.”

Mark 9:43 “If your hand causes you to sin, cut it off. It is better for you to enter life maimed than with two hands to go into hell, where the fire never goes out.”

It is somewhat troubling to understand.  First of all, according the Bible, everybody is a sinner. If that is the case, anybody that is born should have been thrown away into eternal fire? Is there an exception where somebody is born as a non-sinner?  Since everybody is a sinner who is going to be alive to implement the command of the Lord.

Even if we take the verses literally, if both hands commit sin, how can anybody cut off both hands? You need to have at least one hand to cut and throw away the other sinful hand. If both hands are cut off and thrown away, how does one gouge his eyes that may have caused him to sin?

I am sure, you must have deliberated on this and received the message from God, the Almighty. Can you share your experience?

8) Deformed or Disfigured

But the following verse says that no man with defect can come to the Altar to offer food.

According to Leviticus 21:18-20; “No man who has any defect may come near: no man who is blind or lame, disfigured or deformed; no man with a crippled foot or hand, or who is hunchbacked or dwarfed, or who has any eye defect, or who has festering or running sores or damaged testicles.”

If a man cannot approach the Altar with eye defect, do you think we will have enough people to attend churches. According to research studies, nearly 90 percent would have eye defect in their lifetime. Then we will add the blind, lame, disfigured, deformed, crippled etc., to this list, do you think there will be anybody in the church?

WORD OF GOD

I also came to know that the WORD OF GOD couldn’t be changed. His word will stand forever. It is stated in the verse: “The grass withers, the flower fades; but the word of our God will stand for ever.“( Isaiah 40:8).  You also stated in your email that “I am a servant of His Son, Yeshua. I trust and obey His Word as revealed in the ancient writings of the books of Genesis through Revelation; commonly known as the Holy Bible.” If you follow the word of God and your own words, you may have to kill more than half the population, deny women’s rights,  refuse the deformed and crippled, sell our daughters, allow our sons to be stoned to death, etc. Please let me know if I misinterpreted the WORD OF GOD.

He is all-powerful

Mathew 17:20 states that Jesus told the disciples if they have faith as small as the size of mustard seed, they can move the mountain from here to there.  Further Jesus replied, “I tell you the truth, if you have faith and do not doubt, not only can you do what was done to the fig tree, but also you can say to this mountain, ‘Go, throw yourself into the sea,’ and it will be done.” (Matthew 21:21).

Based on this statement, God is all-powerful. If that is the case, Yeshua could have wiped out all other religions so that only Christianity would have reigned supreme.  Also it is stated in the Bible that “Christ died for our sins according to the scriptures.” (1 Corinthians 15:3). If he had taken the sins when he was on the cross, why do we have all the passages dealing with sins and how to put them to death.

As you mentioned, my family members and I will be happy to meet with you to hear about your God. Please let me know when we can meet so that we may be enlightened with your answers to our queries.

And we also know that Pope Pius XI had once said that the principal duty of the papacy was to plant the church in all countries of the world.

 

The Church came to the East in dramatic circumstances. Pope Leo X had the following words to say to king Manoel of Portugal in 1515:

 

« Receive this warlike sword in your always victorious and warlike hands. With this you will wage wars under the most happy auspices you will subject the enemies of the Faith, as you have done up to now […] [May] you use your force, strength, and power against the fury of the infidels may you consecrate, not only your most religious spirit, but also the kingdom itself, and the forces of the kingdom, to the giver of them, to God the best and the greatest, so that having received through this gift the help of heaven in battles, you may bring back abundant spoils and most famous triumphs »2.
