Veda for All

VEDAS FOR ALL

By Chitranjan Sawant

At the beginning of the human creation, God transmitted divine knowledge to mankind for a style of life generating health and happiness. God revealed VEDAS or Divine Knowledge to the Rishis or the sages and they passed it on without in any way discriminating between man and woman or between man and man on grounds of caste, creed or color, The entire human race is entitled to read the Ved mantras, meditate on them and improve the quality of life.

One has just to make an effort to read and meditate on the mantra and the happy results would not be far to find. One may read the original mantra compilation called samhitaa or go to the translation of the text and explanation or exposition in English or Hindi language. Treatises explaining meaning of the Ved  mantras may be available in other languages too. Meditation on mantras leads to bliss. “Vedo Akhilo Dharm Moolam’’ – Vedas are the roots of righteousness. When one walks on the path of righteousness one is doing one’s Dharma as a good man ought to. Who is a good man? One who is socially efficient is a good man or a woman.

He or she is an achiever of right goals through right means. This Mister Right cares as much for the society as for himself. Should there be a conflict of interests between the self and the society, self must be made subservient to the society. This is what the Vedic way of life is all about. This path of social efficiency is paved with and illuminated by the Ved Mantras.

The Ved Mantras always show light at the end of the tunnel and bring in optimism and become a source of inspiration to lift a man or a woman when he or she is d own in the dumps. It may also be understood that the Vedas, being divine knowledge, are considered to be infallible. Other branches of knowledge originate from this pristine source. Maharishi Swami Dayaanand Saraswati, founder of the Arya Samaaj, has opined that the non-Vedic works conforming to the Vedic Dharma are acceptable but the ones in conflict with the Vedic precepts are not acceptable. Ved mantras are the touchstone to decide either way. Ved mantras are cornerstones of the edifice of the Vedic Dharma.

The Vedas are four in number: Rigveda, Yajurveda, Saamaveda and Atharvaveda. At the beginning of the creation, the Rishis in whose hearts the four Vedas, Rig, Yajur, Saama and Atharva were revealed are Agni, Vaayu, Aaditya and Angiraa respectively.

Now let us take a close look at them and meditate on Ved mantras relevant to the human scenario today. The Rigveda is the Ved of Sciences. There are ten thousand five hundred eighty nine mantras spread over ten mandals or ten major cantos.

With a view to understanding the spiritual import of Ved Mantras, quite a few Vedic scholars of yore like Sayan and Mahidhar wrote Ved Bhashya or Vedic commentaries in simple Sanskrit. In the 19th century India a Vedic renaissance took place. Maharshi Swami Dayaanand Saraswati had the distinction of being the first Rishi to write commentaries on the divine Vedas both in Sanskrit and Hindi. The Vedic wisdom was unlocked and the biggest beneficiary was the common man on the street. It was a religious revolution.

Unlocking the Vedic knowledge and letting the deprived segments of society reap the harvest definitely enriched quality of life of an average man.

The Yajurveda comprises one thousand nine hundred seventy five mantras. Its basic emphasis is on Karmakaand, correlating mantras and yajna. The mantras inspired men and women to realize God in their inner self. Mantras motivated men and women to banish the evil and imbibe the noble. Making donations for charities is one of the ways to attain nobility on the path to attain Moksha, that is liberation of soul from the bondage of repeated cycles of births and deaths.

The Saamaveda comprises one thousand eight hundred seventy five mantras. This is known as Upasanaakaand or the prayer sung for realization of the Supreme Being n one’s inner self. The word SA-AM, inter-alia, means a communion of soul with God. SA means the Almighty and AM is soul or Jeeva and SAAM is a synthesis of the two. The Atharvaveda comprises five thousand nine hundred and seventy seven mantras. It is known as the Jynankand. The mantras of Atharvaved enlighten men and women in their quest of God and help them seek Him in “Matter or objects of this mundane world’’.

The Vedas propound the philosophy of Trinity, i.e. existence of God, soul and matter before the Creation, during the Creation and after the Creation is over. The three exist as independent entities with myriad opportunities to interact. God, of course, is supreme being always and everytime. Correlating the Vedic knowledge with the mundane matters of today, one may like to take a look at the scenario of terrorism and what the Vedas have to say on the subject.

Does a Vedic sanction exist against wanton killings of human beings and destruction of property with a view to terrorizing human beings? Of course it does.

The Rigveda gives a definite direction to punish the killers and eulogize the warrior who wields Vajra. Punishment of the criminal killer is a must. The Rigveda defines a warrior as one who wields the invincible weapon of war, Vajra, for the common good of the society. He fights the battle with self-confidence, high morale and velour against terrorists.

A Vedic warrior against terrorist has to keep himself cool, calm and collected. Let the like-minded men and women consolidate the forces of good people against the evil terrorists and eliminate them once for all. It is high time the saints wielded the Vedic Vajra and killed the sinner-killers. According to the Vedic philosophy God is one. He is without a form or shape. He is never born in this world and, therefore the question of His death or disappearance does not arise. In other words, Vedas do not subscribe to the theory of AVATAR or God coming to this world in a human form to help man.

God is omnipresent, omniscient and all powerful to run this universe as per the divine laws which He too does not break or infringe. The Vedic Dharma does not subscribe to the theory of God deputing prophets to run His errands. There is a direct communication between God and man and there is no place for a middleman. That is why the treasure of Vedic knowledge made available to man through mantras does not envisage a godman who is different from a common man. It is indeed the divine right of men and women to delve deep into the Vedic realm and live a life of righteousness.

Vedas lay an emphasis on the Truth.”Satyam Vad, Dharmam Chara” is the epitome of the path of righteousness. It means: tell the truth and go by the principles of Dharma or the code of conduct aiming at purity in life. One may wonder if that is a pragmatic philosophy of life. Of course it is. A path strewn with untruth and dishonesty may pay seemingly rich dividends but in actual fact these dividends are ephemeral. A short –term gain may eventually lead one into a dark abyss where one is condemned to live in pain and misery forever.

The Vedic way of life takes care of life after death which is followed by a rebirth. What Samskaar a soul acquires when it is embodied has its effects in the birth after death too. Vedas prescribe a clean life which pays dividends many times over.

The Vedas prescribe a four-fold path to Moksha or liberation of soul from the endless cycle of birth, death and rebirth. It is DHARMA, ARTHA, KAAMA and MOKSHA. As we proceed further in subsequent chapters, we shall dwell on the salient aspects of this four-fold path. For the time being one may understand that Dharma takes one on the right course of life, Artha enables one to earn wealth by the sweat of brow, kaama enables one to have a high ideal to be achieved through hard work. Should a man or a woman follow this Vedic path, Moksha or liberation from birth, death and rebirth will not be far to seek.

COMMON GROUND FOR A HINDU RAASHTRA and STORM CLOUDS FROM THE PSEUDO SECULARISTS

COMMON GROUND FOR A HINDU RAASHTRA and STORM CLOUDS FROM THE PSEUDO SECULARISTS

Dr. Babu Suseelan

DIRECTOR, INDIAN AMERICAN INTELLECTUALS FORUM

Since I have written an article “Why we should declare India as a Hindu Rashtra”, I have received several    emails, letters and comments both positive and negative from our friends and foes. It was expected.

Some of the comments are violent, virulent, vicious, vacuous, deceptive and diabolical.  Some made predatory and genocidal comments and threats. These phony secularists offer only lip service to our Vedic ideals. Suffering Hindus mean nothing to them. Truth, real facts, honesty, integrity and creative ideas make no more sense to them.

Let us examine several erroneous flaws (points) held by several secular Hindus. One liberal secular Hindu from Bangalore wrote; “Who will declare India as a Hindu Rashtra?” Many people, Christians, Marxists, and secularists, Muslims live in Bhaarat. As a Hindu, we should support and respect their opinions no matter how poorly they declare and conceal their intentions.

Rejoinder: Respect does not mean that an opinion is right. More importantly the right to hold an opinion or blind faith does not guarantee its truth, or that is as valid as our opinions.  In India, people have the right to have their own opinions, and all ideas are subject to critical examination.

A secular lady from Mumbai wrote that “your thoughts and ideas are often just against Muslims and Christians. I have so many Muslim and Christian friends”

Rejoinder: You may have Muslims and Christians and Marxists as your friend. There may be truth to this claim. However, the spirit of critical thinking has the impetus to explore such issues. They usually come up with slick, simplistic massages that proclaim some unfounded truth, and get fertile ground for many prejudices that promote distorted thinking including terrorism and coercive religious conversion.

Another Hindu from New Delhi wrote “can you solve all the problems of corruption, power shortage food scarcity, unemployment by declaring India as a Hindu Rashtra?”  What do we do with converted Christians and Muslims in the country? Hindus are faced with severe problems and many Hindus have a special style of their own. They encompass fallacies, behavior that detracts from critical thinking and fall prey to such traps.

One lady who claims to be devoted to Sai Baba claimed to be a real Hindu who believes in Truth Is One and many call it by different names”. She accused me that I am not a real Hindu.

Few phony liberal Hindus are over-committed to pseudo secular ideology. There are times when such over commitment can become both limiting and all consuming. Excessive commitment to pseudo secularism can be seen among some Marxist Hindus, phony liberals, atheists and few secular Swamis. Their excessive commitment to pseudo secularism does not allow new ideas to enter their minds.  They perceive everything through their lens of pseudo secularism (attribution Creep) rather than objective lens.

Once over commitment and confirmation to pseudo secularism are established, zealousness is not far behind. Under this spell, individual Hindus either refuse to listen to counter arguments (A closed mind) or simply cannot understand or accept alternative explanations… Either way, nothing that contradicts their false belief system is allowed in their minds. They rely on one liners and catch phrases and their stance has extraordinarily dangerous implications for our Hindu Rashtra.

Our friends and foes know that India’s plagues and polarization can take time to cure. Declaring India as a Hindu Rashtra is the first step to end the toxic thinking patterns and polarization created by pseudo secularists. We can have a great Indian nation if all Hindus take the concept of Hindu Rashtra seriously and create a positive environment we want o live in and desire our children and grand children to inhabit.

Indians have notoriously suffered from escapism and tolerance. Escapism and irrational tolerance rob us of psychological and political maturity and our wisdom. It is in dealing with reality that one develops the wisdom that begets understanding and it is clear-correct and critical understanding that citizens can mature enough to deal problems on a long term basis with reality. Escapism, irrational tolerance of intolerant people and toxic ideology, and head in the sand approach will lead us into more ignorance and political immaturity.

By declaring India as a Hindu Rashtra, Hindus can practice spiritual Dharma without interference or fear. We can continue our critical thinking, spirit of curiosity, and we can critically examine what is right and wrong, what is good and what is bad for the country. If India is declared as a Hindu Rashtra, Hindus can distinguish among different elements of their own thought process and Hindus can ponder clearly where my link of thought taking me is? Is what I am thinking best for my country?

Nothing less than the freedom, National Identity by culture, and moral principles can ensure economic progress and prosperity. Japan for example has no natural resources of its own… But it is one of the economic giant of the world because Japan is very proud of their culture, national identity and no coercive religious conversion is allowed in the country. Can anyone ever imagine a Vatican agent become a national leader in Japan?

In our ever changing, challenging and dangerous world, the need for right ideas to solve the most pressing problems that facing India has been taken on a new urgency. Declaring India as a Hindu Rashtra will invigorate citizens and creative ideas to solve common human problems.

Everyone in Bharat, young or old, farmer or captain, rich or poor, call Bharat as Bharat Mata. Our Mata will not let us rest. Bharatmata keeps prodding us, challenging us with problems to be solved, and demanding that we act wisely or be destroyed by forces which want Bharat to be destroyed.

But we cannot rest contented with the divisive forces and destructive elements with apocalyptic ideology destabilizing our country inhabited by great Rishis, Acharayas, and sanyasins.

Intervention strategies will be developed automatically once we declare India as a Hindu Rashtra. Strategies to protect our Vedic culture, to preserve our sanathan Dharma will automatically come out and strengthen our resolve. Swami Vivekananda moved swiftly and quickly, traveled all over Bharat from Katmandu to Kanyakumari and laid the foundation for a vibrant Bharat Rashtra.  Swami Vivekananda’s ideology of Hindutva has entered upon the new modern era.

If you believe that change is not possible in Bharat, you are not alone. The way politicians in India behave seems to indicate that Indian political organizations and pseudo secular politicians seemed to have vaccinated against any change.  It is an isolated place where fresh thinking and departure from pseudo secularism, corruption and illogical arguments are unwelcome. India is the only place in the world where new thinking and innovative ideas are punished, while those committed to maintain Italian, uneducated aupar lady Antonio Maino government, and maintaining Islamic appeasement, Jihad war, coercive religious conversion, corruption and economic downward spiral receive awards from the President and applause from our enemies.

There are no Chanakya, Shivaji Maharajah or Jhansi Rani, Veera Pandya Ktta Bhomman, or. Dr. Ajaya Ghosh with a sword in one hand and new ideas in the other. Nor anyone is like Veer Savarkar or Dr. Hedgewar, or Dr. Ajaya Ghosh with pertinent fiery words demanding change.

The world is changing with new ideas. But Hindus are still in deep sleep refuse to wake up. India is a democratic country and change is possible only through ballot box. And democracy in India elect, reelect anti National, corrupt and criminal politicians like Mayavathy, Lalu Prasad Yadav, Mulayam Singh Yadav, Karunanidhi, and Nithish, and Mamatha Banerji.

In India, the pressure to conform to existing phony secularism, where Muslims and other religious groups are appeased, rewarded for their coercive conversion techniques, subversive activities and terrorism.  The pressure to continue existing colonial rule is relentless. Everything seems to be against Hindus who want to promote pluralism tolerance, peace, harmony and tranquility.  How can we resist such relentless pressure to continue existing oppression and Hindu slavery?

The first step is to declare India as a Hindu Rashtra.

Each of us has an important responsibility o bring Hindu values to life. Facing the challenge is not easy. Our enemies have spread certain misconceptions about our Dharma, Vedic values and our role to act like a zombie.

We, Hindus have values, beliefs, and a sense of what is right and wrong. They are unique, sublime, noble, and make us different from Muslims, Marxists, Pseudo secularists and Christians. They are what make us humane.  But while having principles of Dharma may be natural for Hindus, actually practicing these principles is difficult in a country ruled by Vatican agents, Jihadis, pseudo secularists, and anti national Marxists. Behaving according to our Dharma, spiritual values, and with good intentions is one of the biggest challenges each of us faces everyday in Bharat. It is true for every aspect of Hindu life in Kashmir, West Bengal, Nagaland, Tripura, West Bengal, Tamil Nadu and Kerala from individual life, family life, religious life, education, banking, industry, sports and politics. In every state Hindu temples are controlled by phone secular governments. Temple wealth is looted, temple land is sold by politicians, and religious Hindus have no control on the operations of Temples. Pseudo secular organizations created by the anti Hindu government have their own values, mission, operating principles, and what types of working relationships with political groups they too have. They play a larger part in shaping our behavior than most of us realize.

Declaring India as a Hindu Rashtra we might actually get a whole lot more than we might think. One thing is certain those who cling on to their distorted pseudo secularism, will produce nothing but more frustration, jihadi terrorism, crises, subversive activities, more polarization and perpetuation of the broken system.

So why did I write? Partly, of course, to demonstrate the truth and I value of my own position as an avowed Hindu. To that extend, I don’t trust many phony Secularists, and leftists.

How the Baptists Converted Gorkha Ram Singh – It could happen to you too!

From: Laxminarayan Sarma laxminarayan.sarma@gmail.com

Subject: How the Baptists Converted Gorkha Ram Singh.- It could happen to you too !
If you thought that Christian missionaries are on the prowl only in the coastal areas and tribal belts of India, you are dead wrong. The crusading Christian missionaries have spread their tentacles from the sun swept shore of the south to the snow clad  heights of the Himalayas and from the steamy jungles of the north east to the burning deserts of Rajasthan.

This is the true story of Gorkha Ram Singh who is a watchman in a housing complex in Mumbai. He was on a long leave in Nepal and returned to Mumbai only yesterday. Hanging prominently around his neck was a chain with a huge cross suspended from it. I was shocked. I have known Ram Singh to be a devout Hindu who fasted on every Ekadasi, who
celebrated the Ganesh Utsav, who visited the Mahalakshmi temple every month and who very devoutly celebrated Dussera.
I first thought that Ram Singh was sporting the cross just as a fashion statement. So many Bollywood actors are doing so. I teased him about it and asked him if he was aspiring to be an actor. But he got serious. He said, “no saab, humne dharma badal daala hai:, meaning I have changed my religion.

I was simply shocked.

I asked him why he done so. With a very serious face, he told me “Saab, a few goralog from America, had opened missions in my village. And so many of my fellow gorkhas have become Christian.”

On probing further he said, “Saab, since my last visit to Nepal 4 years ago, a lot of bad things started happening in my family. All of a sudden, three of my cows suddenly died, I started losing all my chicken one after another and my wife started behaving as if she was possessed..”

“A few relations of mine and my immediate neighbour  had converted around the time I last visited Nepal. One of these relations brought in a firangi pastor. The firangi pastor was accompanied by a Nepali pastor. They both told my father not to worry. They said that the misfortunes that had befallen my family was due to the evil forces I worship. I used to be a devotee of Kali and Shiva. They told me that these are incarnations of the devil and I should throw them out.”

“Initially I was unwilling to believe them. Then two more cows died. The goats I had purchased out of my hard earned savings suddenly disappeared. I suffered huge losses.. I was distraught. I didn’t know what to do” “The pastor and my newly converted Christian neighbours visited me. They told me they would pray for my wellbeing. They also said they
would give me a cow and two goats if I allowed them to hold prayers in my house. I agreed. They came to me with the cow and the goats and said that once they chanted the Christian prayers at my house, I would not lose the cow or the goats they had given me and that my wife too would get well.”

“The prayers began. The pastor and my Christian neighbours would assemble at my house and chant the Christian prayers. I too would join in, because the prayers were in my native dialect. Gradually my wife’s condition improved. The cow and the goats started yielding good milk. My stock of chicken multiplied. Impressed, they poured holy water over me. They removed the pictures of Kali and Shiva and asked me to throw them down the mountainside which I did. And now I am a Christian. I have a picture of Christ and a cross at home”
“They gave me food grains and  clothes, toys for my children and medicines for my old mother”

I questioned him further, particularly about the death of his cows, goats and chicken and about his wife’s mental health. He told me that only after the arrival of the American pastor and the conversion of his neighbours did his cows, goats and chicken had started dying. He said that his wife started behaving strangely only after visiting the mission dispensary  for a fever. His had been a happy family filling around 10 bighas of land and he had had no problems before.

Isn’t it a strange coincidence that his cows started dying only after the arrival of the pastor and the conversion of his neighbour? Isn’t it rather strange that his wife started behaving strangely only after she took medicines from the mission dispensary?

From our experience we know that these are the standard dirty tricks the missionaries use to convert the poor and gullible, innocent Hindus. This is subversion of the dirtiest kind. The ultimate of Christendom is to engulf Hindu India by eating away into the Hindu population living on the coast and the land borders and gradually moving into the Hindu heartland.

Hindus, wake up. The Christian west is trying to rob you of your religion, your freedom and finally, your country.

HINDU RASHTRA: THE ONLY WAY TO STOP THE PARTISAN POLITICS THAT IS DESTRoYING INDIA.

HINDU RASHTRA:

THE ONLY WAY TO STOP THE PARTISAN POLITICS THAT IS DESTROYING INDIA.

by Dr. BABU SUSEELAN

Having spent most of my life abroad, and viewing and analyzing India from a distance, I was confronted with the good, the bad and ugliness of Indian politics.

DECLARE INDIA AS A HINDU RASHTRA.  This is the only one cure for the plague of cynicism, Islamic terrorism, and appeasement of Muslims, internal disturbances created by subversive agents, anti Indian attitude of the media, political corruption, lack of microeconomics progress, and crises created by regional- criminal politicians, and inefficiency and corruption in the bureaucracy. Our enemies have injected so many thought viruses in Indian political life.  The only cure for the illness and the only way out of the mess is to declare India as a Hindu Rashtra.

From Kashmir to Kerala, the government is mismanaging the economy, public funds are diverted to Muslims and Christians, and coercive religious conversion is encouraged and supported. Instead of moving the country forward, the central government controlled by the uneducated Italian catholic lady Antonio Maino and many state governments (Except Gujarat) work against the interests of the majority Hindus.

The Media, instead of unmasking the hypocrisy of corrupt, criminal politicians, subversive organizations, individuals who act as subversive agents who create and deepen the crises in India, endorse and support the patrician politics that divide the nation.  For years, our media contributed to the climate of corruption, subversive activities polarizing the nation, and helped to spread the contentious and dangerous messages of Muslims and anti national groups.

The Media supports “politics of destruction”. The print and TV media also invite and promote corrupt, criminal politicians, subversive groups and anti national, anti Hindu groups on the news and talk show programs for the simple reason that it brings applause from our enemies.

HINDU RASHTRA: SLOGAN OR CHOICE?

Naming India as a Hindu Rashtra will explode the conventional wisdom. IT will provide a strong Identity for all Hindus. Hindus from Kashmir to Kerala have a role to play. If large enough members of Hindu community demand a Hindu Rashtra, India’s criminal and corrupt politicians have to heed to their demands. The Hindus have to challenge criminal, anti India, anti Hindu politicians to do better and make them do better for Hindus and the Hindu Rashtra.

To be honest, the crises Hindus face is now so deep and transformation required is so fundamental that real change can sometime feel almost impossible. How do we keep Hindus move with the slogan “HINDU RASHTRA” into a reality? We need to force Hindus into real freedom.  Only free people can move away from cynicism into optimism.

When Theodor Herzl in late 1895 coined the term  Der Jeden Staat (Jewish State), he was ridiculed, insulted, and called him a delusional misfit. Instead of all negative publicity, Theodor Herzl was successful in creating a Zionist movement which resulted in the birth of a Jewish state in 1948. Herzl’s slogans provided the settings at which Jewish politicians could work hard to establish Israel, and the only Jewish state in the world. Now Jews around the world supports the Jewish state. Zionism support Jews upholding their Jewish identity and opposes Jewish discrimination, exclusion, and persecution around the world.

Jewish people have been forced to wander around the world for more than 2000 years. Without any Jewish state, Muslims and Christians, through a combination of anti Jewish attitudes and measures have been discriminating, and even killing Jewish people. Now, a total of 15 million Jewish people exist in the world. But they are a powerful force to be reckoned with. With 7.5 billion Islamic people with 71 Islamic nations could not wipe out tiny democratic, progressive peace loving and pluralist Israel. Israel is committed to Cultural identity, commitment for pluralistic values, and respect for freedom and positive outlook, economic progress and democracy.

These democratic values, freedom and progress are possible only with Hindus declaring India as a Hindu Rashtra. Naming India as a Hindu Rashtra may generate both positive and negative comments and images and expectations from friends and foes.

Our own hope has been dramatically renewed by recent conference organized by Hindu Janjagrtai  at Goa. It seems Hindus are slowly waking up from the slumber by the miraculous work by Tapan Ghosh and Radheshyam Brahmachari in West Bengal, Hindu Aykavedi in Kerala, and Hindu Munnani in Tamilnadu and Hindu organizations in different parts of India is working for a Hindu Rashtra.  More important, these Hindu movements offer a campaign plan.

Intellectuals and prominent professional luminaries from different parts of the world have written and expatiated the abstract concept, the functional concept, strategies and action plan for a Hindu RASHTRA. Tapan Ghosh and Brahmachari (Calcutta), Dr. Bala Aiyer (Houston) Bhagavat Goel (New Delhi) V. Sundaram (Chennai), Deivamuthu (Mumbai) Narayan Kataria and Arish Sahani (New York) Dr. Subramaniya Swami (New Delhi) Swami Jyothi (Bangalore) Dr. Togadia (New Delhi) Sarvarkar Vinayak (London) have written and advocated all Hindus to build around  a set of creative ideas, to get Hindus moving. Hindus can now say that Hindu Rashtra is not a slogan but a concrete reality. Whenever we feel stuck, paralyzed, intimidated, or overwhelmed, whenever we feel helpless and hopeless, we need to understand, that our situation is never as static as it may appear to be.  Hope always involves that breaking open of new possibilities from seemingly hopeless circumstances. We know too well the death and mayhem resulting from nefarious activities of the bogus secular, criminal, corrupt anti national, anti Hindu politicians. We know the destruction caused by atheist, phony secularists who relentlessly work against Hindus and for appeasing Muslims and our enemies. We have to include in our activities and in our deliberations ways to overcome the destruction caused by the anti national political parties. We need to plant seeds of change in every Hindu who are indoctrinated and brainwashed to act like zombies for our enemies.

Unlike Islam, Marxism, and Christianity Hindu Dharma is not a closed dogma and we do not have any sect or way of worship or one Messiah, or one prophet. Hindus have different Panthas or ways of worship. We respect and approve the Vedic system, Buddhist system, Jainism, Sikhism, Vaishnava, Shaiva, Shakta, Ligayat, Arya Samaj, Brahma Samaj and these special ways reach the truth. Hindus respect and approve Bhakti Marga, Jnana Marga, and Karma Marga. According to one’s intellectual and physical inclination, capacity and nature our Vedic system offers freedom to act and think to reach salvation.  According to Dr. Radhakrishnan Hinduism is not a closed dogma or sect but it is a great commonwealth who believe in Dharma and truth who seek Vasudhaiva Kudambakham.

Hindus call our way of life as Sanaatan Dharma. Hindu Dharma promotes freedom, democracy, pluralism, and respect nature and wholeness of all living and non- living entities. Our great Rishis have developed different thought system and means to achieve equanimity, patience, health, forgiveness, control of mind, purity of thought and action, peace, progress, development of the intellect, knowledge and transcendental living.

The concept of Rashtra is nothing new. It can be found in Rig Veda. From ancient days to modern times, Hindu Rashtra was in existence. Eminent personalities have again and again insisted that Bharat Bhumi is punyaBhumi and now the time has come that Hindus around the world must join together and declare Bharat as a HINDU RASHTRA.

Hindu Rashtra may polarize anti national, anti Hindu people. Social issues may be created by our enemies. It is likely that these issues will come before Hindus. These issues only add fuel to an already explosive climate created by our distracters.  Hindus must face it, confront it and resolve social issues that may be created by ant Hindu forces. Hindus have to work together for a change. Hindus have too many enemies who want to destroy us from within and without. Hindus should not be reluctant to take the first step to declare Bharat as a Hindu Rashtra. Does anyone believe that it is not a good thing?

The answer from any sane Hindu will be – No. It is the only way to bring lasting peace in Bhaarat. – Skanda 987

Yoga can tackle mental disorders

Yoga can tackle mental disorders

BANGALORE: Yoga is no longer a traditional fitness workout. The National Institute of Mental Health and Neuro-Sciences (Nimhans) not only has a 45-minute yoga package to treat psychiatric disorders like depression and schizophrenia, but has started comparing its curative effects with general medicine.

Doctors at Nimhans say their studies reveal evidence of biological changes in the body brought about by yoga. They prescribe yoga therapy along with medication in major ailments, while using yoga therapy alone for less serious disorders.

Nimhans is currently doing rigorous clinical trials on the impact of yoga in treatment. Doctors are also measuring biological parameters in patients after yoga therapy. This project has been taken up as the scientific community has still not accepted the role of yoga despite even mainstream doctors prescribing it with allopathic treatment.

“In all our investigations, there is a high degree of evidence that yoga in different forms does have a curative effect in diseases like depression, memory loss in elderly persons, schizophrenia and others. We worked out specific protocols for yoga for specific neurological problems. The degree of improvement is comparable to that of medicine,” said Dr BN Gangadhar, programme director, Advanced Centre for Yoga, Nimhans.

“We found that chanting of ‘Om’ reduces activity of sensors which have become hyperactive in patients suffering from depression,” Gangadhar added.

Draft Pledge of Allegiance to Dharma

Draft Pledge of Allegiance to Dharma

By A Jalan jalansaab@hotmail.com

Let all Dharmic schools/ aashramas/ organizations/ etc. have a condition for initiation of its adherents (those that have cleared the preparatory stages and are now formally becoming students/members and certainly before they can be considered aacharyas / teachers/ authorities on Dharma) that they take a PLEDGE OF ALLEGIENCE TO DHARMA. So the entry is NOT free anymore – the organization/ tradition must ascertain your seriousness and commitment before opening its doors. We owe this to Dharma. This pledge should be strongly and unequivocally worded, picking everything which is non-negotiable in Dharma (comprising of course the common denominator of all sub-traditions) and which is in opposition to other religions, regardless of its (lack of) political correctness. (I think that would simply be the main points mentioned in Being Different.) A sample draft (Skanda987’s modifications or additions are shown in italics.):

Quote:

Pledge of Allegiance to Dharma

I, <<so-and-so>>, do hereby pledge and affirm, based on my personal experiences/ realization, on my intellectual cogitations and inferences and on the authoritative word of the Rishis (Mantra DrashTaa) whom I regard as perfected beings, my absolute allegiance to the Vedas, the Thought-Word of Brahman as also the fundamental seed-vibrations behind Srishti (creation), as being the Whole and Absolute Truth.

I also do hereby pledge and affirm:

1. That I firmly believe in the Inherent Supreme Divinity of Man, and that every human being has the potential to manifest this Supreme Divinity within his life, based on one of the four broad maargas (ways) of Yoga. That I denounce any theory or dogma or canon that claims human being as born sinner.

2. That I denounce any history-centric view of the world which makes some claimed historical events as exclusive (non-re-enact-able) and some claimed historical figures as having exclusive rights to any spiritual experience.  That I firmly believe that any such view is antithetic to the system of Yoga and cannot be accommodated into the grand Vedic universal system.

3. That I denounce any dogma or canon that human beings need intervention from some divine being to attain salvation. That I firmly believe that the soul of Man is qualitatively same with Brahman (God the Supersoul), and as such requires no external intervention to realize that Supreme State. However, practice of a yoga under a realized spiritual master speed up the spiritual progress towards God realization or moksha.

4. That I firmly believe in eternity of the atman (Soul) – having neither birth nor death – which incarnates and re-incarnates as various beings, human or otherwise, based solely on the inviolable law of karma, by the principle of which, every action of a human generates a reaction directed at the human. That one’s karma in present and the past lives decides the course of the one’s birth in the future lives, or freedom from birth-death cycles.

5. That I firmly believe that the principles of Dharma, being infinite in their universality and bereft of sectarianism and exclusivity, are subject to misinterpretation if removed from their original Vedic sources and settings by way of unnecessary and inaccurate de-contextualization. That certain word-concepts involved in such principles are non-translatable in any other language except their original Sanskrit, whose word-sounds also carry distinct seed-vibrations of such concepts.

6. That I accept the authority of the Vedas and its 700-verse short summary Bhagavad Gita as the Book of the Vedic dharma. For all practical purposes Gita is sufficient as defining what is Dharma. I also accept the checks and balance of the Vedic guru, saadhus (those living seriously per dharma), and shaastra (Gita or the Vedas).

I also do hereby pledge and affirm that this is my considered position and any deviation from it, ever in future, will unconditionally and invariably disqualify me from being considered an adherent/ advocate/ authority of Dharma and that in such an instance, I should be considered to have reneged on my allegiance to Dharma. However, I could revert back in Dharma by surrendering to a qualified Vedic spiritual master and living and learning under his/her direction.

How to debate with anti-Vedics – R. Malhotra

Rajiv Malhotra’s Guidance to the Vedics

for Debating with Christians or Muslims

(The ideas of Rajiv’s ji are generalized below by Skanda987.Skanda’s lines are shown in italics.)

1) The Vedics should start with mutual respect, reciprocated from the other side, as a necessary condition that we demand from Christianity and Islam.

2) Raavana, Bin Laden, or Hitler, etc. types of persons DO NOT deserve our respect because they simply cannot respect others who are different.

3) Demand that History-centrism (HC) must be EXPLICITLY REJECTED by Christianity and Islam, because HC results in mandatory exclusivity claims. HC is the root cause why they CANNOT respect others. (HC is baseless because:

a)      Since the beginning of creation the humans have commonality of body design, and have a mind, some intelligence, and a soul; and desire to live in peace and harmony with others and nature.

b)      God is one, is all powerful, omnipresent, omniscient, can be formless or can take form; and God loves all because all living beings are God’s creation. This Supreme God cannot be jealous of anyone because no one can equal God. He/She can communicate directly with an one who develops qualification to do so. Anyone is free to communicate with Him in the form of prayers.

c)      God is one and same forever per the Vedic scriptures. Only the understanding of humans about God differs due to more or less knowledge and intelligence of humans.

d)      Just as God given air, water, or land are free to all to live, all have the freedom to realize God by following a proved process. No one has monopoly or proprietorship over God or heaven or hell.

e)       Air and water is same since the beginning of time; so God is same to all for all the times. Similarly, the Vedic dharma is same for all the humans of anytime.

f)       The principles and properties of nature and God are same and never change any time or place.

4) For Vedics, accepting Jesus without the prerequisite of removing HC is like adopting a snake without first removing its poisonous fangs. (Besides, the Vedic dharma and culture has one or other dharmic process that can suit any human for advancing spiritually and living sin-free. The Vedic society has produced millions of spiritual giants that dwarf Jesus. So, we do not need Jesus as our hero. – skanda987)

5) The Vedics should always invite their Christian friends to adopt dharma and see Jesus as an Ishta-devataa (one’s chosen deity for worship,) BUT always explain that the concept of ishta-devataa requires removing HC. No ishta-devata can be exclusive, or history centric, because that would distort the principle of ishta-devataa.
