Ambedkar on MK Gandhi

“I refuse to call him mahatma! He does not deserve that title, not even from the point view of his morality.” – Dr. Bhim Rao Ambedker on M.K. Gandhi

The Congress party has forever used Dr. B.R. Ambedkar as their poster boy. Not many know that Ambedkar hated Congress and Gandhi, and frequently spoke against them. A quick check on a few facts, and how Congress treated Ambedkar:

Dr. Ambedkar could not find a place among the 296 members initially sent to the Constituent Assembly. A Dalit leader from East Bengal withdrew himself, paving the way for Dr. Ambedkar to enter the Constituent Assembly as a member in his own right

  1. It was Gandhi who forced Nehru to induct Ambedkar into his interim cabinet. Arun Shourie’s book Worshipping False Godsstates as follows, “Ambedkar requested Jagjivan Ram to lobby Gandhi for a cabinet berth” . Jagjivan Ram was one of the first backward class leaders in 1946. He convinced Gandhi, who in turn convinced Nehru. Christoph Jaffrelot also agrees with Shourie on this issue in his book  Ambedkar and UntouchabilityRajmohan Gandhi also elaborates in his book The Good Boatman on Gandhi’s role in securing Ambedkar’s participation through an intermediary, Muriel Lester
  2. Congress ensured Ambedkar’s defeat in the 1952 General Election. Lal Krishna Advani and Mayavati have been quoting this in many of their campaigns. You may find a link on Google about the same.

After betraying Ambedkar to this extent, I seriously wonder why Congress is even bothered in claiming Ambedkar was a part of their party.

The video given below is an interview of B.R. Ambedkar taken by a BBC journalist in 1955. Ambedkar’s views about Gandhi will shock you.
